Operations Management is the management of systems or processes that create goods or provide services.

For example, when a company wants to operate smoothly, grow their business, satisfy customers, and make money, operations management is at work. Customer service, global competition, productivity, and quality are all parts of operations management. Globalization is required for a company to expand to a larger market. Productivity and quality must be at a maximum for the business to make the most money possible.

All businesses have a supply chain. A supply chain is a process that is put in place by a company in order to gather materials produce and distribute their product. The supply chain can include the businesses’ facilities, functions, and activities. The supply chain sequence begins with raw materials and concludes with the final product that the customer buys.

There are three types if interrelated processes that a business is composed of: 1) Upper management processes, 2) operational processes, and 3) supporting processes.

 

Using the information that you learned in the activity for the Business Environment Process, write a 1-2 page paper in which you choose one of the business process categories and identify some of the business environmental factors that affect that category. Use specific examples about how some of the factors impact the process. Explain the cause and effect between the factor and environment.

• Describe three or more ways that your knowledge about language acquisition and development has increased.
• Summarize three or more insights you have gained about young children in relation to language acquisition and development.
• Identify any misconceptions or assumptions you held about language development that were dispelled in this course, and explain how and why each was dispelled.
• Reflect on the four observations and interviews you conducted during the course. In what ways, did these firsthand experiences demonstrate for you the uniqueness of the process of language development? Use specific examples from the observations and interviews to support your response.

• Part 1 (Week 2): Observing an Infant or Toddler Interacting with an Important Adult

  You will observe a young child in one of the three stages of language development: prelinguistic (using sounds and gestures), phonological (transitioning from sounds to speech), or semantic (learning the meanings of words). Then, you will interview the parent or caregiver about the child’s language development. The goal of this assignment is to observe the child’s means of communication and apply what you have learned about how important adults can foster language development in very young children.

• Part 2 (Week 3): Observing a Preschooler’s Communicative Competence

  You will observe a young child 3–5years old using language. The goal of this assignment is to look for evidence of the child’s communicative competence using specific measures, and consider how important adults can foster one or more aspects of the child’s communicative competence.

• Part 3 (Week 4): Interview on Second Language Learning

  You will interview an older student or adult who is bilingual about the experience of learning English as a second language; or you will interview a teacher of young English language learners (ELL) or a foreign language teacher about children’s experiences in learning a second language. The goal is to increase your understanding of the experience of learning and using English and another language.

• Part 4 (Week 5): Interview on Developmental Leaps and Lags in Language Learning

  You will interview an early childhood teacher or a speech pathologist on the topic of language development to find out more about children whose language is delayed or who have atypical language development; or you will interview the parent of a child with a language delay or atypical language development. The goal is to expand your understanding of developmental differences in language development, or atypical language development caused by a specific condition or communication disorder, and the impact on children and families.

Businesses are subjected to many internal and external pressures. Some internal pressures include stability (in accordance to finances), organizational structure, politics, and the number of resources. Some external pressures include the health of the economy, political and legal factors, and stakeholders.

As the pressures of the business environment increase, what are some response activities that organizations use? What about these specific activities is beneficial to the organizations?

 

 

• Describe a physical trait you possess that you could potentially pass on to your own children. Using what you learned from the Inheritance of Individual Traits animation, consider the following. Let’s pretend you have 4 children, and 2 of the 4 children also possess your characteristic. Meanwhile the other biological parent of your children does not possess the trait.
• Do you think this trait could be dominant or recessive?
• Based upon your response, describe why it would or would not be possible for this trait to “skip” a generation.

Defining and understanding the elements of a group culture is essential to forging a professional identity either online or in person. These elements are important because they reflect how professionals interact, whether online or in person.

An industrial or workplace culture consists of different occupations, roles and statuses. A hospital is an excellent example of a number of people working in close proximity representing different occupational groups. Patients, nurses, health care specialists, surgeons, administrators, security, and support staff groups all function together but may be identified by their equipment, behaviors and language, and the tools and training used to get their work completed.
