For your dropbox assignment, using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research and compare the demography and health indicators for Nigeria and the United States.

Based on your research, create a 3- to 4-page report in a Microsoft Word document, answering the following questions:

Compare the annual population growth rate of both countries. What factors do you think are contributing to the differences observed between the two countries?
Compare the composition of the population of both countries. What does it suggest about each country?
Compare the dependency ratio of both countries. What does it suggest about each country?
Compare the mortality rates of both countries. Which age groups do you think are the most affected in each country? Is there a gender difference in mortality rates? Why or why not? In your opinion, what are the factors that might contribute to the differences in mortality rates of both countries?

Assignment 2: Theology and Philosophy

For Week 2, address the following in a three-page paper:

This assignment is designed to encourage you to reflect upon the nature of God from a philosophical rather than religious perspective. After completing this week’s readings, write a 3–4-page essay explaining at least two approaches to the nature and existence of God.

Explain the difference between theology and philosophy.
Describe at least two philosophical approaches to the nature and existence of God, then compare and contrast them.
What are the similarities and differences between your personal beliefs about God and the accounts of God we have studied this week? For instance, does natural theology give us a means to determine what our purpose is and how we should live our lives? Why, or why not?

In the first Individual Project, you will be laying the groundwork for all of the work in this course. You will do the following:

Select a company and one of its products for which you will be creating an online ordering system. Get your instructor’s approval for your selections.
Install the required software.
Install the provided skeleton ordering system.
Customize the skeleton ordering system to meet your requirements.
Construct the shell document that will be your ordering system description.
Describe your ordering system using Unified Modeling Language (UML) Use Case Diagrams.

Now that you have a better understanding of object-oriented programming, you will use this approach to develop your interactive Java program that supports a company of your choosing to sell products online.

In this Individual Project, you will represent the design for your application using the UML diagramming techniques called use case diagrams. Later in the course, you will use another UML diagram to help design and describe your program, a class diagram.

You will also be setting up the foundation design document outline that you will add to each week. The combined Individual Project assignments will be your final Key Assignment design document deliverable.

Throughout this course, you will also be working on several aspects of this application that will result in the final version of a functioning interactive Java program. Additional information and the deliverables for each Individual Project will be provided in the assignment description for this project.

Read the Ace Heating and Cooling scenario and answer the following questions:

Under UCC 2-302, who has the best chance of getting out of the contract due to unconsionability?
The symbol for justice features a woman wearing a blindfold illustrating that the law should be applied the same way regardless of who the parties are. Does the UCC rule seem to contradict this? Which approach do you think is more ethical?
Note that both Glamour and Shady Rest are businesses, and courts rarely find that contracts between two businesses are unconscionable. The rationale is that a business is a sophisticated entity, familiar with transactions and able to protect itself. Do you think Glamour and Shady Rest are in a comparable position in regard to this contract? Why or why not?

Discussion 2

Karen is shopping at Big Mart. She has with her an umbrella which is the same brand Big Mart carries. When a Big Mart employee, Steve, sees her leave with the umbrella without going through the checkout lane, he asks her to come back into the store. Steve says that he thinks Karen is shoplifting the umbrella. Karen tells him that she has had the umbrella for years and shows him marks of wear and tear. Steve apologizes and tells Karen she is free to go. Can Karen successfully sue for false imprisonment or defamation? From what you have learned about the relationship between a principal and an agent, analyze whether Steve or Big Mart could be liable because of Steve’s actions.

List two characteristics each of real, intellectual, and personal property. Do owners of real, intellectual, and personal property each have the same rights under the law? List how each type of property is treated under the law. Explain why it is in the best interest of society to treat these types of property the same or differently.

Read the article Governance in the Spotlight: What the Sarbanes-Oxley Act Means for You. In this article the author outlines provisions companies are now required to implement. Consider the requirements imposed by Sarbanes-Oxley on corporate boards of directors. Do small businesses and privately held companies have ethical duties? If so, to whom would they owe this duty? Employees? Customers? Vendors? Should the law impose ethical requirements on small businesses or privately held companies or can the marketplace police unethical business behavior? Provide support to justify your position.

Discuss Ways you Plan to Apply Procurement Management

Submit a content discussion paper in which you specify that specifies how you intend to apply this newly gained knowledge in the field of project management. This could include future courses or a current or future professional setting. What areas of monitoring and controlling a project seemed most challenging to you?

Decision Making with Managerial Accounting

Due to varying business characteristics, the managerial accounting techniques applied in each business may differ. For example, a business in the start-up phase may rely heavily upon budgeting and capital investment techniques; whereas, a business in the mature/maintaining phase may rely heavily upon cost management and quality control. Ultimately, the techniques used by management should assist the business in achieving its short-term and long-term goals through effective decision-making.

For your Final Paper, you will analyze the role of managerial accounting in two parts. Part I will provide a general overview of managerial accounting. Part II will provide examples of how managerial accounting theories and principles are applied in the business world. You may find it helpful to reflect upon your own professional experiences for examples.

The PPACA of 2010

PPACA of 2010 brought many changes to the types of provider organizations available. ACOs and PCMHs are two new organizations formed under PPACA. Using the readings this week, discuss the origin, structure, and purpose of the new organizations formed under PPACA.

The successful implementation of change through the use of Project Management has become vital to most businesses and organizations to the point if an organization fails to keep up with the pace of change it can have catastrophic results to all the organization’s stakeholders. Take some time to review current events and identify a scenario where an organization’s attempt to implement change failed and the consequences of that failure. For example, perhaps a business attempted to implement a new product, or use a new technology and was not able to successfully implement the change, or a governmental agency that failed to deliver on a service.

Describe in detail what the organization attempted to implement and the impact this failure caused to the various stakeholders in the scenario.

Select one of these cases and address the following questions in your paper:

Analyze the part the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) plays in health care information systems acquisition.
Address the major concerns, and provide alternatives to alleviate these concerns.
Analyze whether or not value was added to health care information systems through acquisition.
Analyze how the system might advance or devalue patient care delivery.
Explain whether or not the current system can or should be maintained.
Explain what the literature states about this type of implementation/acquisition.

Improving Quality

Improving the quality of health care delivery and patient safety continues to be a political concern and has been at the heart of reform issues for many years. The American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) have increased awareness of health care quality and safety issues, as well as advocated for health care reform. The documents featured at the ANA and IOM websites listed in this week’s Learning Resources focus on many of the current issues surrounding quality and safety in the health care industry.

To prepare:

Review this week’s Learning Resources, focusing on the Six Aims for Improvement presented in the landmark report “Crossing the Quality Chasm: The IOM Health Care Quality Initiative.”
Consider these six aims with regard to your current organization, or one with which you are familiar. In what areas have you seen improvement? What areas still present challenges? As a nurse leader, how can you contribute to improving the organization’s achievement of these aims?
Select one specific quality or safety issue that is presenting a challenge in the organization. Consider at least one quality improvement strategy that could be used to address the issue, as well as which of the six aims for improvement would then be addressed.
Reflect on your professional practice and your experiences with inter-professional collaboration to improve quality and safety. How has inter-professional collaboration contributed to your organization’s efforts to realize the IOM’s six aims for improving health care? Where has inter-professional collaboration been lacking?
