You are required to research him or her as an (1) historical figure, (2) the socio-political context in which him or her was embedded in, and how these two elements are seen from the perspective of a chosen theoretical perspective. The overarching question that should guide your research (you do not have to fully answer this question) is: How the selected the selected historical figure is embedded in the context of the history of his or her nation, the history of Latin@ Diasporas and in the socio- political context at a global scale? Contextualize your answer with his or her biographical information, a description of the period and from a specific theoretical perspective. Students will submit an annotated bibliography (i.e. a list of books, a chapter from a book, journal articles, online resources etc.) that relate to your essay topic. The purpose of this task is to explore, organise and summarise research sources for your essay. You will be marked on your ability to provide an alphabetical list of between 10 and 15 texts. Each entry will include; 1. The Bibliographic details: using the correct referencing style (APA 6th Edition). Please use academically credible sources from; At least 4 books At least 4 academic journals No more than three websites The Annotation: A concise paragraph of 150 – 200 words, which details; A brief summary of the text; what was the author aiming to do? What are the key points? What is the thesis statement? What was the purpose; to inform, report, persuade, compare, argue etc.? Evaluate relevance: Explain why this is relevant or useful to your particular essay topic Evaluation strengths and limitations: Critical evaluation: Whose voice is being heard in this text?
