Use the first 3-5 theatres that come up on the list):San Francisco (Oakland/San Jose)
Boston
Philadelphia
Dallas (or Ft. Worth)
Miami
Houston
Atlanta
Detroit
Seattle
Riverside, CA
Make a list of all of the films (both films title and number of showings in One particular day) in those theatres. Show your results including the zip code, name of the theatres, and the date you are examining. In a short 1-2 paragraph analysis, identify which of the films on your list are the most independent in terms of how they were produced and distributed.Do NOT simply list the films that feel independent or are made by someone whom you consider an “independent” filmmaker – do a bit of research, and find something specific that indicates the film’s independent origins (this might include budget, where the film was produced, how it was acquired for distribution, if it appeared first at film festivals, etc). Here is a big hint: if the film had a distribution deal in place BEFORE production began, it is probably not independent.Google “[film title] distribution” or “[film title] acquisition” and you will probably find an article from one of the trades telling you everything you need to know. Find at least one published article (not Wikipedia or imdb) that describes the films independent origins or status.
