In this assignment you will use academic sources to present a wellargued, coherent review of a current issue in a social science. This paper should build on your annotated bibliography and oral presentation, incorporating the feedback you received on those assignments. You will be graded on the clarity of your paper, the correct use of APA style, how well you incorporate academic sources in your paper, and your critical analysis of the issue. Assignment Tasks 1. Your paper should be between 6 and 8 doublespaced pages long (approximately 15002000 words), not including references. Use 12 pt font, with 2.54 cm (1inch) margins. 2. Use at least 8 academic sources. Be sure to properly cite your sources, using APA style. They do not have to be the same sources that you included in your annotated bibliography, but they can be. Also include a bibliography at the end of your paper, with all your sources listed in alphabetical order (by the first authors last name), as per APA guidelines for a reference list. Your sources can include books, journal articles, government reports, or websites, but you must provide a full citation for each, and no more than 2 of your sources should be nonacademic. If you use nonacademic sources, be sure to justify in your paper why they are credible. 3. Provide a critical analysis of the research on your topic. Your paper should not just be a summary of each of your sources, listed one after the other (in other words, do not simply copy from your annotated bibliography). It should be a critical analysis of the current research on your topic. You may want to organize it by theme or subtopic. You can use subheadings to help organize your paper. Be sure to compare and contrast the research findings do any of your sources present conflicting results? If so, why do you think that might be? Are there unanswered questions with regards to your topic? Are there flaws in the research? How might these flaws affect our understanding of this topic? You will be graded not only on how well you describe the current literature on your topic, but also on how well you critically assess the literature. 4. Please make sure you cite all your sources and properly give credit to ideas that are not your own.You will submit a copy of your essay in electronic format to have it checked for plagiarism. Any paper being found to contain plagiarised material will receive a grade of 0 and will be reported to the Associate Dean.
