13 October 2018How Social Media Causes RapeOne cause of rape, which can easily be prevented, is miscommunication. Today women, more or less flirt with the sense of no means yes. At times, it is very hard for a man to understand what a women wants. In the article,A True Story of Date Rape: The Katie Koestner Story, by Brenna McGinn, Koestner explains, Different people think the most extraordinarily different things when you invite them over. However, in todays society of social media being so influential on young adults, invitations into a woman or mans room is almost always seen as being sexual. Therefore, Miscommunication can be seen as a leading cause of rape.
According to McGinn, she hears news of ten new rape cases everyday, but there is a always a lack of the cause to show for. When starting college, Koestner talked about a stunning Male Specimen, who she aggressively went after to try to date. She accomplished her goal and went on a dinner date with this man, Peter. Peter eventually, after weeks of just hanging out, took her on a fancy date to a french restaurant and ordered champagne. Katie took two sips because she felt she would make Peter uncomfortable if she did not drink.
Further along the dinner, Peter mentions he has a house in Greece and that the two should go on a family trip to this house. Per koestner, she remembers that Peter suggested that she must have sex with him whenever she was called to do so. But she chose to laugh it off. Later, Peter decided they should go to a frat party, but koestner thought the two were over dressed for such an event. Because of this, koestner thought it would be a better idea to invite Peter over to her dorm, so they can dance under the constellations on her ceiling. Thus allowing Peter to assume he had an open invitation for anything to occur. Once the two arrive at the dorm, they dance for some time until, Katies arms were held above her head by only one of his arms, while being kissed aggressively. But what seems very unclear and raises some speculation is how the story abruptly goes from them Peter forcing himself upon her, to peter sleeping in her bed. Then, in the middle of the night, Koestner finally decides to join him and get some shut eye. Eventually, she is woken up by Peter holding her arms against her chest with no let up. Peter says, Thank you very much. Ill see you at breakfast, insinuating that everything was fine. What could have led to this insinuation is miscommunication between the two.
Social media is all about communicating. Sometimes the communications are great and other times people miscommunicate. A prime example of this miscommunication is shown through Instagram. Instagram is a platform to where anyone can post about nearly anything and because of this, promiscuity is tolerated and eventually encouraged by the perks of doing so. These perks can show up in forms of a rapidly growing fanbase, recognition and sometimes money. The incentives of showing yourself off on social media is what drives females to post these pictures. For example, According to the article, Instagram model: I make more money from posting a single selfie than doing four days’ work, by Ross Logan, Gabrielle Epstein makes, more from posting a single selfie than she would working four days as a regular model. This makes it easy for a women to think showing off her body gives her recognition in a good way, while also letting men to assume it is acceptable.
In the article, Gendered Media: The Influence of Media on Views of Gender
By, Julia T. Wood, themes in media support unrealistic, stereotypical, and limiting perceptions, while also portraying men as sexually aggressive and dominant and women as passive, unaware and dumb. Other than just social media presenting women as a sexual object, more examples arise in the making of music videos, movies, etc. According to Wood, females are shown dancing provocatively in scant and/or revealing clothing as they try to gain men’s attention. This is exemplified in music videos shown on MTV, as well as other platforms. Also, abuse is condoned in many films and T.V. shows today. For example, in the widely renowned netflix series,13 Reasons Why, a highschool student named Hannah Baker was sexually abused by many players on the football. And because of the football players being deemed untouchable, she saw no justice for their crimes. It is as if it never happened. Examples in movies, T.V. shows, music videos, and instagram allow men to assume rape is ok or that women crave attention and dominance.

Conduct a quantitative and qualitative benchmark literature review and scan of operations best practices (from the health care industry or outside the health care industry) and provide and evaluate an example of an initiative that a high-reliability health care organization has implemented, and indicate how Pediatric Hospital can implement that initiative.

Operational Implications of Process ImprovementDuring this class, we examined a range of methods used in operations management to monitor, assess, and improve performance in health care organizations. In this final Assignment, you will review the Learning Resources made available throughout the class, and any additional external resources you may find. Then, you will synthesize your understanding of these resources, applying your knowledge to the Pediatric Hospital case study.According to the case study, a kaizen event revealed that variability in operations performance and outcomes was the root cause of a bottleneck in scheduling MRIs. Three solutions were provided, including:Modify the master schedule.
Streamline the insurance authorization process.
Implement standardized work instructions.
To prepare for this Assignment:Read the Pediatric Hospital in Tough Market Pegs Growth to Lean Process Improvement case study by Tonya Vinas, located in the Learning Resources. Review the key metrics and current state of the organization before the interventions were conducted. The Assignment:In a 6- to 7-page report to the board of directors (not including title page or references):1-Assess operations requirements and resources for Pediatric Hospital. Describe what is working and what is not working.

3-Evaluate Pediatric Hospitals readiness for the transition of health care systems from a volume- to value-based delivery system. Using data provided in this case, provide relevant and practical recommendations to improve its readiness and how it might affect the implementation of the initiative.
4-Analyze the operational implications of 23 current health care reforms and mandates that might affect the implementation of the initiative.
5-Consider current and future trends and forces in operations management excellence and assess how these can help this Pediatric Hospital and other similar health care organizations to become a sustainable model for high-reliability organization.

Reflect on the skills you have practiced in the previous modules for this course. You have identified current issues in education

. After determining some of the problems related to these issues, you searched for and critically analyzed literature related to those problems. Informed by scholarly research, you narrowed the focus of a topic to a problem and determined possible problem statements for scholarly inquiry.
In this module, you have revisited those problem statements, identified key stakeholders related to a specific problem, and determined essential questions that you will ask stakeholders in order to inform a positive change. You have considered how you must identify, inform, and involve many stakeholders in any plan to effect a positive change. Although many individuals have the ability to identify problems, leaders in education are those who take action to improve situations or solve problems.
For this Assignment, you will apply these skills to address a problem related to the case study you have been exploring throughout the course. What problems have you and your colleagues identified as you have explored the case study together?
Select one of those problems that you would like to investigate further in order to effect a positive change. Assume the role of the leader planning the positive change related to the problem you identify and consider the steps you might take, and how they might inform an action plan for change. Then, download the Action Plan Template located in the Learning Resources section. Use the template as a guide to assist and organize the different items that you need to investigate in order to move the plan for change in a positive direction.
By Day 7 (of Module 5)
Submit a 2- to 3-page paper in which you identify the change you would like to implement and explain the plan you would use to bring about the change.Be sure to address all the topics outlined in the template: goals, actions, time frame, stakeholders, and an evaluation strategy. Also include relevant resources that you have located in the library. Note the strategies you, as a leader in education, would take to facilitate change related to the problem you identified. Explain your rationale for the strategy you are proposing.
