Identify an area of HR data that you will investigate, (such as absence data, records of new starters or leavers, performance appraisal statistics), the time period you intend to investigate and the part of the organisation you will focus on.

Activity 1 Write a report on Data Management which gives at least two reasons why organisations need to collect HR data, identifying at least two types of data to be collected and explain how each supports HR. You should also describe two methods of storing records and the benefits of each. Give an explanation of two essential items of UK legislation relating to the recording, storing and accessibility of HR data. Analyse this data to identify any trends, patterns, or causes, and present your findings in a written statement, with relevant supporting documents (for example, spreadsheets, tables, graphs or charts) to illustrate your analysis. If you have not been able to source your own data for this activity, we have provided three data samples for you to analyse.

One page summary each of the attached 2 articles discussing the major ideas, contributions, or shortcomings of the article … First paragraph , introduce and summarize the topic , then comment on the below points according to the relevance to the article -What are the central findings of this paper? -Do the authors motivate the topic adequately (i.e., why is it interesting and important)? What are the research gaps? – -Is there logic, internal consistency, and a strong linkage between theory and hypotheses or arguments? -What is the originality of the contribution to the extant body of knowledge in discipline (i.e., what do we learn that is new?)? -What are the key implications of the findings for understanding consumer behavior and marketing? -What may be some specificfuture research directions?

Explain why this reform is not being implemented. What are the interest groups supporting and opposing the reform?

Choose a country (developing or developed) that you know well. Identify a potential reform preferably one that has been discussed but not implemented that could have contributed to addressing major socio-economic challenges (growth, inequality etc). Discuss why and how these groups influence political decision-making in this country. Do we have to chose a democratic country, or can it also be non-democratic? You could chose either a democratic or a non-democratic country. Can the main actor opposing this particular policy be an international organization, like the IMF or some other foreign donor? Yes it can, but you should explain what role this external actor plays in national politics, and in particular what are its relations with local interest groups. Can we chose a policy that was passed, but that was then partially repealed or not implemented properly because of pressure from some interest groups? Yes, absolutely. But you should also explain what this change of course tells us about the role that proponents and opponents play in different stages of policy-making. Can we chose a policy that was actually good for development and that voters managed to have passed while powerful interest groups opposed it? Yes, absolutely. What matters is that you explain which interest groups opposed and supported the policy, and how they managed to influence policy decisions. Explain which interests “voters” represented, why they prevailed. Can we chose a policy that was discussed some time ago, or de we have to chose something from the present or recent past? Both are fine. However you should chose a policy you can gather some information about, for instance through consulting newspaper articles. This might be more difficult if this policy was discussed some twenty years ago.
