Select a problem that you can objectively analyze and write about as a third party (you will write your paper as if you were an outside consultant). – Be ready to do additional reading and research on the topic.

For my final paper, the organizational issue I’m going to focus on is self-motivation and motivation employees have at my company. It’s an industry where people one has to be very motivated to succeed at a high level. Often time employees are washed out and don’t make it after the first two years due to not being able to motivate themselves. I’m going to examine the state of the current office and how motivation would allow people to work better in the environment given. – Focus on an organization you have been part of or observed (preferably current or recent). – Select a problem relating to organizational behavior. Ensure this is a topic covered in the class text. The problem should be a group or organizational level problem (e.g., department with poor motivation, underperformance, high turnover, disengagement) and not purely an individual problem (e.g., troublesome, unsuitable, or untrained individual). – Select a problem that you can objectively analyze and write about as a third party (you will write your paper as if you were an outside consultant). – Be ready to do additional reading and research on the topic. Choose an interesting topic. – The topic should not be the same as a paper you have previously completed for another class (e.g., from your conflict, groups and teams, diversity, communication, and other classes). – You will interview two people who have observed or have been involved in the situation to gather additional data. If this is really not possible, you may request permission to rather document your observations in detail, based on your own experience. Use the textbook readings, additional research (scholarly articles from journal database, academic, or professional books and articles), and instructor-provided supplemental materials from the class as sources. Demonstrate your application of the class texts and learning in your paper. Include citations of the class texts and other sources to show how you have applied the ideas or principles. This paper will be 5 – 6 pages in length (excluding title and reference pages). Use the APA formatted document provided in the Blackboard course. See the rubric below. At least three additional sources (besides the class texts or readings) are required. Do not write in 1st or 2nd person (using I, we, us, you, our). The paper should include the following sections: – Introduction: Introduce and define the problem clearly and briefly. Include a short description of the organization and its context, as well as the organizational culture and structure (1 page) – Evidence: What evidence (beyond your perception) is there of the problem (e.g., observations of behavior, performance data, client complaints, resignations, interview findings, financial losses, opportunity costs etc)? How does the evidence support what you are suggesting is the underlying problem? Are there alternative diagnoses? What are the attitudinal outcomes (see chapter 3) of this organizational issue or problem? (1 – 1.5 pages) – Theory and literature: What does the organizational behavior literature (class text and additional sources) say about this problem that is relevant to understanding and resolving it? What are the key concepts (be sure to use the correct terms)? What organizational behavior theories address the causes and solutions to such problems? (1.5 – 2 pages) – Proposed solution: Propose a solution to the problem. What actions must the organization take? Is this solution (or alternatives) supported by the readings and the organizational behavior theory and research you have learned about? Ensure you include practical details about who would be responsible for implementing the solution, how improvement could be measured, how long the resolution might take, and potential risks. (1.5 – 2 pages) Includes all required sections. Follows all instructions. Addresses all questions. 50 Uses citations and references from class and additional texts. Three additional scholarly sources. 20 Diagnosis and solution clearly supported by concepts, theory, and arguments. 40 Written in formal manner; logically organized paragraphs and arguments; APA format; written as a consultant (no 1st or 2nd person). 30 Follows page limits. Concise, clear writing. 10 Total 150 Must use this reference: Robbins, S. P., & Judge, T. A. (2017). Organizational behavior (17th ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Pearson.

Discuss both pros and cons of the mega-trend to develop your recommendations

Scenario The board of MyTaxi are going to meet and spend two days reflecting about the longer-term future of their business. They have identified six mega-trends that they think will have a big impact on their business in the coming years. These issues are automation, the gig economy, new forms of energy, changing role of women, mega-cities and the rise of nationalism. The chair of the board has asked you to prepare a short essay on any one of these mega-trends. It should be no longer than 2,000 words. Specifically, the board is interested in the following: 1. Introduce your chosen mega-trend 2. Discuss both pros and cons of the mega-trend to develop your recommendations 3. Make action recommendations. The board expects you to be clear in making recommendations about what MyTaxi should do considering the developments associated with your chosen mega-trend 4. Provide logical basis for recommendations. Your recommendations should be well-argued based on empirical evidence, research, and/or logical deductions. 5. The board expects that you will present persuasive arguments, avoid biases, and explain some of the limitations of your arguments. When you asked for some more details about each of the six issues, you received the following information: 1. Automation. We are interested in understanding what impact automation, algorithmic technologies, and robots will have on our business. In particular, we want to know what is likely to be the impact of self-driving cars on our business and how we might prepare ourselves to deal with these changes. 2. Gig economy. We are interested in how less secure and flexible forms of employment impact our business. In particular, we would like to understand how conditions of work might change in our sector and what that means for how we engage with drivers. 3. New forms of energy. We want to know what impact changes in energy will have on our business. In particular, we are interested in the accelerating shift from petrol to electricity as the major source of energy used by our drivers. What impact will this have on our business and how could we prepare for it? 4. Changing role of women. We want to know what the changing role of women in the economy means for our business. In particular, we are interested in understanding what a shift from a majority male fleet of drivers to a more gender balanced fleet of drivers will mean for our business and how can we prepare? 5. Mega-cities. We want to know what impact the rapid growth of mega-cities particularly in developing countries will have on our business. We are specifically interested in what business opportunities and challenges this will create for us and how we might prepare for them. 6. Rise of nationalism. We want to know what the growth of nationalist sentiment though-out Europe (and beyond) will mean for our business. What impact is this likely to have on availability of drivers and customers as well as regulators for instance in terms of expansion. What does this mean for our business and how do we prepare for this?

Explain the difference between a 95% confidence interval and a 99% confidence interval in terms of probability.

Week 8 – Assignment: Construct Confidence Intervals and Statistical TestsInstructionsFor this task, write a paper using the following structure: Begin with a one or two-paragraph introduction that summarizes the meaning of the reading material.
Answer all of the questions included in Parts 1 and 2 below. Be sure to answer questions using complete sentences and show all work in your calculations.
Provide a written conclusion, when appropriate, for the problem that you are addressing.
Include an essay section in your paper, which is described in Part 3 below.
Use the last part of your paper to include a paragraph or two that explains the information that you learned in the assignment. Support your paper with at least two references.
Part 1
Explain the difference between a 95% confidence interval and a 99% confidence interval in terms of probability.
a) To construct a 95% confidence interval for a population mean , what is the correct critical value z*?
b) To construct a 99% confidence interval for a population mean , what is the correct critical value z*?
Explain what the margin of error is and how to calculate it.
A survey of a group of students at a certain college, we call College ABC, asked: About how many hours do you study in a week? The mean response of the 400 students is 15.8 hours. Suppose that the study time distribution of the population is known to be normal with a standard deviation of 8.5 hours. Use the survey results to construct a 95% confidence interval for the mean study time at the College ABC.
Explain the difference between a null hypothesis and an alternative hypothesis.
Suppose that you are testing a null hypothesis H0: = 10 against the alternate H1: 10. A simple random sample of 35 observations from a normal population are used for a test. What values of the z statistic are statistically significant at the = 0.05 level?
Describe the four-step process for tests of significance according to the textbook.
Part 2A study of a group of 40 male league bowlers chosen at random had an average score was 176. It is known that the standard deviation of the population is 9.
a) Construct the 95% confidence interval for the mean score of all league bowlers.
b) Construct the 95% confidence interval for the mean score of all league bowlers assuming that a sample of size 100 is used instead of 40, and the same mean and standard deviation occur.
c) Give the margin of error for each interval.
d) Explain why one confidence interval is larger than the other.
There are 100 apartments in a certain a San Francisco apartment building. The owner of the building wants to estimate the mean number of people living in an apartment. The owner draws a random sample of 40 apartments in the building. The number of people living in each apartment is as follows:
1 2 1 2 3 1 3 4 3 12 2 1 2 2 2 1 3 2 32 3 1 2 3 3 2 4 5 23 2 2 3 1 1 2 2 1 2a) Compute the sample mean and sample standard deviation.
b) Use the results from part (a) to construct a 95% confidence interval. A doctor wishes to estimate the birth weights of infants. How large a sample must the doctor select if she desires to be 99% confident that the true population mean is at most 6 ounces away from the mean of the sample? Assume the standard deviation is 8 ounces. Hint: The margin of error should be at most 6.
In Problem 4 of Part 1 a class survey of 400 students was given in which students at College ABC claimed to study an average of 15.8 hours per week. Consider these students as a simple random sample from the particular population of College ABC students. We want to investigate the question: Does the survey provide good evidence that students study more than 15 hours per week on average? Assume the population of hours studied is normal with a standard deviation of 4.
Before working out this problem, it will help to look over the webpage, Hypothesis tests for means, http://stattrek.com/hypothesis-test/mean.aspx?Tutorial=AP
a) State the null and alternate hypothesis in terms of the mean study time in hours for the population.
b) Is this a one-tailed test or two-tailed test?
c) Determine the value of the test statistic.
d) Sketch a normal shape curve and identify the test statistic.
e) Indicate the p-value of the test. Use the standard normal table. Shade the area under the normal curve corresponding to the p-value. You can also use the website cited above to do this.
f) State your conclusion to the statistical problem in terms of the null hypothesis, and your conclusion to the practical problem. Length: 5 – 7 pages References: Include a minimum of two scholarly peer-reviewed resources.Upload your document and click the Submit to Dropbox button.

In a 2-3 page essay discuss what happened in the Las Vegas housing market, particularly during the time period of the real estate boom from 2000-2007 and till the present.

MBA 502 Statistics Essay AssignmentOne of the hottest real estate markets during the last real estate boom was in Las Vegas. In this essay
you are to compare housing prices in Las Vegas to nearby Phoenix. The excel file, PhoenixLV has the
necessary data and the file has been posted on blackboard. For three time periods, 1987-1997, 1998-
2007 and 2008 to 2014 you are to do the following analysis.1. Compute the descriptive statistics for each time period for the index.
2. Calculate the growth in the index from beginning of the period to the end of the period.
3. Test the null hypothesis that there is no difference in housing prices between the two areas.
This would be a two tailed test. From your results can you say that housing prices are significantly different in Las Vegas than in Phoenix
during each of these periods? In a 2-3 page essay discuss what happened in the Las Vegas housing
market, particularly during the time period of the real estate boom from 2000-2007 and till the present.
