The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act: How it Affects Health Care Decisions and Outcomes

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) requires that U.S. citizens and legal residents obtain qualifying health coverage. Write a report of 4-5 pages that explores the individual mandate section of this health reform law and how current legislation impacts this. Complete the following: Explain the individual mandate included in the PPACA including the tax penalties imposed if a person or family had not obtained qualifying health coverage. How has mandated health insurance coverage under PPACA worked? What impacted its success? If you were required to make one policy change or enhancement to ensure success of an individual mandate such as included in the PPACA, what would you recommend? Assess the historical relationship between the cost of health care and outcomes in the United States with the cost of health care and outcomes in another country. What policies could be considered to assist in changing the relationship between costs and outcomes to a more efficient relationship in the United States, if at all? Note: Your report should use APA formatting, and you must include 4 references, 2 of which are peer-reviewed sources from health care journals and published within the last 5 years.

Current and Future Health Policies Affecting Health Care Costs, Quality, and Access

In this final project, imagine you are the chief executive officer (CEO) of your health organization, and you are asked by your organization’s board of directors to prepare a policy proposal to be submitted to your local area Congressperson. In this policy proposal you are defending, challenging, or both the policy mandate. You need to use the information that you have learned over the past weeks about health care management in the U.S. to address the following: From your research over the course of the last few weeks, assess what impact do you think the changes to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and/or current legislation will have on the uninsured population in your local community or region? Evaluate and prioritize the importance of the provisions studied in previous weeks (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, and the individual mandate) from the most important to the least important. State the reasons you ranked the provisions in the order you presented. Analyze the potential success or failure of this Act and changes based on your organization and your local health care needs. Justify your opinion. Discuss future implications of this Act’s success or failure. Recommend policy updates, changes, revisions, and so forth to the PPACA and/or current legislation that will address the opportunities and challenges that your organization and local community may deal with. Note: Your policy proposal should be 5-6 pages, not including title page and reference page, formatted in the APA style, and it should include 8 quality references, 4 of which are from peer-reviewed health care journals and published within the last 5 years.

Policy Analysis-School safety policies and security procedures

The student’s analysis and solution will be presented in a paper of no less than 1500 words. In their analysis students are not held to a particular minimum number of sources, in part, they will be evaluated on their discretion and choice of appropriate sources; however, students are expected to utilize the relevant materials assigned throughout the course. This is a formal writing assignment and students should not merely copy information from another author, but use empirical evidence whenever possible to support their arguments and critically analyze related literature. This project has to be a bona-fide policy analysis, not a summary of readings. Students are expected to address this project in their own words. While it might be necessary, on occasion, to directly quote a source the point of this assignment is for students to synthesize the concepts and present their own analysis. Thus, students are expected to be exceptionally prudent and limited in their use of direct quotes. Students are expected and encouraged to use the assigned readings, videos, and other materials used throughout the quarter on this project. In some case students may need to utilize additional sources that were not assigned by the professor. In either case they are expected to use APA formatting of citations, footnotes, and bibliography. Students must cite the sources of all ideas, facts, and information used that are not their own, even if they have put the information into their own words. Failure to do so is plagiarism, even if the oversight is unintentional.

Sustainability, Ethics, and Financial Reporting.

In your paper, be sure to identify your case study in the first paragraph. Your report should state the basic premises of sustainability, and discuss the challenges of actual application. Any global issues and implications observed should be analyzed and discussed. The analysis should include a discussion of the GRI standards. “Green washing” and its potential ethical implications should be discussed in the report. Objectively discuss your observations and back them up with valid reasoning and documentable facts. Discuss the potential ethical issues related to sustainability. The paper should be approximately 4-6 pages in length and thoroughly address all required topics. You should use a minimum of four outside, credible resources, not including the course textbook. Work that is not your own must be properly cited. Your assignment is being utilized as part of your academic degree programs assessment process. During this process, we look carefully at how well we are preparing our students to meet the programs learning outcomes by analyzing student theoretical and practical skill growth over time. It is essential that we capture how your progress in the courses and assignments in your program are allowing you to meet these goals. This assignment will be collected at the program level. Rest assured that this information will be used for program assessment purposes only and not affect your course grade.

Determine what type of aerobic activity you will engage in. Determine the frequency (how often per week) and duration (minutes per session) of your activity.

Designing a Program Purpose: To design a personal cardiovascular training program. Method: List any special equipment needed for this activity. Be sure to include warm-up and stretching activities. Complete your workout plan for the week. Make sure to take and record your pre and post heart rate. Make sure to provide your workout plan you created and what you completed. Discussion: 1. What was your pre- and post- heart rate? What range were you in during most of your workout? Why do you think that was? 2. Was your plan reasonable? Were you able to complete the plan you created? Did you enjoy the workout you created? Do you see yourself continuing with this plan? Explain why or why not. 3. Discuss strategies for dealing with issues that may conflict with your exercise plan. Option #2: Heart Monitor Workout Purpose: 1. To learn the effectiveness of a heart monitor. 2. To become knowledgeable about combining a cardiovascular workout with a resistance workout. Method: 1. Determine what type of activity you will engage in. Be sure to include cardio and resistance exercises. 2. Determine the frequency (how often per week) and duration (minutes per session) of your activity. List any special equipment needed for this activity. Be sure to include warm-up and stretching activities. Complete your workout plan for the week. Make sure to provide your workout plan you created and what you completed. An example workout might look like this: Leg press Jog 2 minutes Bench press Stair master 2 minutes Leg extension Rowing machine 2 minutes Bicep curls Treadmill 2 minutes Leg curls Bike 2 minutes Tricep extension Jog 2 minutes Calf raises Stair master 2 minutes Lat pulldown Rowing machine 2 minutes Bent rows Bike 2 minutes Abs or crunches Jog 2 minutes 5-minute jog or walk Cool down at the end of the workout 510 minutes stretch Discussion: 2. How did you heart rate change throughout the workout? (If your monitor graphs your workout you can just provide the graph.) Why did these changes occur when they did? 3. Do you think using a heart rate monitor is valuable. Why or why not? 4. Was your plan reasonable? Were you able to complete the plan you created? Did you enjoy the workout you created? Do you see yourself continuing with this plan? Explain why or why not. Select either Set A or Set B below and respond to all of the questions in the set you choose. Set A Questions 1. In what ways has your diet changed during different stages of your life? 2. What advice would you give an athlete trying to maintain a low body weight for a sport? Set B Questions 1.
