What is art to you that is not generally accepted in conventional definitions?

DUE IN 2 DAYS. YOU HAVE TO READ EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE ATTACHED WORD DOCUMENT.

You need to propose three ideas, answering the given questions. If you are having trouble generating ideas, look back to your second step (attached document) , think about your interests, think about your definitions of art, etc.  What would you like to see as art?  What is art to you that is not generally accepted in conventional definitions?  What do you find beautiful?  What are unconventional modes of expression?  What reflects our context?  You can also go back to your three gateways: art as form, art as context, and art as expression.  Ask yourself if your topic could be considered art in a formal sense.  Or if your topic functions as art contextually.  Or if your topic could be considered a form of expression.

For those of you who would like a better idea about what a photo essay is or could be, I have compiled these links for your to peruse:

The next step in your creative process is to more concretely develop ideas for your execution and propose them.  For professional artists, this part of the process is not only key when submitting work to grant programs or patrons but also just playing around with ideas, seeing which ones are the strongest.  Photo essays are often compared to essays constructed with words, telling stories or expressing ideas. For this type of work, the strongest themes will be specific enough to make a statement, personal to you, and understandable to the viewer.   Also, make sure your ideas are doable in the timeframe and resources that are given.  For example, an essay topic that requires you to go to several different countries would typically be impossible in this timeframe unless you are a multi-millionaire with a private jet.  Make sure that it is something you can accomplish by the deadline.

Here you will propose three themes, answering the following questions with each one:  What is the title you see for a photo essay with this theme?  What types of shots would you include within a photo essay with this title?  (I am just asking for a general overview, not a formal shot list.)  How does this idea interpret the prompt: “Art in its Natural Habitat?”  This will often lead to the photo essay you choose to develop for your final step, but it doesn’t have to.  In the creative process, your ideas and work are subject to change, but it is the thought you put in that prepares you to make that leap–even if it isn’t obviously connected to your proposed ideas.

Assignment Details

Deliverable Length:  See Below

You have just been promoted from front-line supervisor to be one of the firm’s senior managers. During your business education, you learned that the primary role of a manager is to make good decisions. As a supervisor, you had frequently been making routine decisions, but you realize that decision making for the overall company can and will have far greater impact on the company and its employees.

Your boss, the chief executive officer (CEO), realizes that you do not have much practice in this higher level, decision-making process and has asked you to write a memo describing your understanding of how to make important decisions.

Your memo should address the following questions:

  • Describe at least 3 criteria that would determine whether the manager is making good decisions. What should be done to better assure that you are making a good decision?
  • In the realm of decision making, what are assumptions? Rather than use a dictionary definition, cite several specific assumptions that would go with any real-life decision you have made or have seen made at a company at which you have worked.
  • Given the importance of proper assumptions, your boss asked you to assess the accuracy of certain business assumptions and what could you do to test or confirm the credibility of them. The following were major assumptions for each firm:

o   An automobile manufacturer’s assumption that the demand for SUVs would continue because gas prices would continue to rise

o   An airline’s assumption that there was a need for an airline that provided no added amenities

How will the federal government enforce compliance in the Medicare Advantage program?

Medicare Regulations

Medicare is a federally regulated program that mandates compliance to its standards through state and federal oversight. One of the primary purposes of Medicare regulations is the protection of its recipients. Medicare Advantage is part of the Medicare Modernization Act, which was passed in 2003. Search the Internet by using the following keywords:

  • Medicare regulations
  • Centers for Medicare
  • Medicaid services

On the basis of your research, answer the following questions:

  • What are the purposes of Medicare regulations other than the one mentioned above?
  • How will the federal government enforce compliance in the Medicare Advantage program? Which two other Medicare regulations do you think are the most important for managed care organizations and why?
  • Do you think Medicare and Medicaid programs face challenges from the perspectives of providers, the government, and consumers (recipients of Medicare or Medicaid)? Why or why not?
  • What are the different services provided by the Medicare and Medicaid programs? Do you feel there is a need to have two different programs? Why or why not?
  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Medicare programs such as Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D. Do you think Medicare Advantage programs ensure the survivability of Medicare? Why or why not?

Additionally, respond to the questions given below after reading the following information in regard to control of managed care organizations at the state level.

States have a broad range of control of managed health care organizations. The main interests of the states are to protect the interest of the consumer and regulate the structure of MCOs.

  • Discuss the regulatory structure used to regulate MCOs and health insurers at the state level.
  • Discuss how states came to be the primary regulators of insurance.
  • Evaluate the most critical components of state oversight of HMO operations.
  • Review the licensing requirements for MCOs in your state and describe the specific requirements to obtain a Certificate of Authority (COA). Compare to the requirements discussed in the course textbook.
  • What are the protections available to consumers under the law in your state? Compare these protections to what is discussed in the textbook.
  • In your opinion, are the state regulations designed for the consumers, or are they designed for the MCOs? Use your course and text readings to support your answer

Analyze the challenges Medicaid faces in terms of improving access to care, quality of care, and reducing the cost of care.

MMA was signed by President Bush in 2003. The MMA brought about sweeping changes that increased enrollment and improved access to Medicare Plans. Similarly, the PPACA was signed into law by President Obama in 2010. The law is expected to significantly increase access to Medicaid for the uninsured, low-income families, and individuals. Medicaid managed care has been implemented by most states, mainly because of rising costs, plan quality, access to providers, and the decrease in state revenues and federal matching funding. Medicare has explored managed care for the same reasons: to reduce costs, improve quality and improve access to providers. Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research the following two topics and write a paper evaluating the impact of these policies on Medicare and Medicaid managed care.

You need to research on the following two topics:

  • Medicare and managed care
  • Medicaid and managed care

Based on your research, answer the following questions:

  • Write a summary for each topic tying together the information learned about that topic.
  • Analyze the challenges Medicaid faces in terms of improving access to care, quality of care, and reducing the cost of care.
  • Analyze the challenges Medicare faces in terms of improving access to care, quality of care, and reducing the cost of care.
  • Draw conclusions about the future of managed care in each program—will it grow or decline? What will be the challenges for success?
  • Select at least four reputable articles per topic that address the challenges facing Medicare and Medicaid managed care.

Based on your research, summarize your findings on the selected topics and compile your observations in a 5- to 6-page Microsoft Word document.

Support your responses with examples.

Cite any sources in APA format.

The Scientific Method

Each and every day, you are faced with having to make split-second decisions, and the need to solve random problems that you encounter. To reach those decisions and work those problems out, you are subconsciously using the scientific method. Apply the steps of the Scientific Method to two situations that could occur in your everyday life. Use the scientific method in the first scenario provided by your instructor to solve the problem at hand.

Please come up with a second detailed scenario on your own, using the categories provided by your instructor, and follow the same steps in the scientific method to find a resolution.

For both scenarios, be sure to use terminology from the scientific method (hypothesis, experiment, etc.) while describing how you would address each problem, as well as a minimum of 3 references to provide factual support.

Scenario 1: Read the course announcements to find out the assigned scenario for your project.

Scenario 2: Develop your own detailed problem and apply the scientific method to solve it. Your problem should fall within one of the assigned categories provided by your instructor within the course announcements.

Your Final Project should be a minimum of 1,000-words written in APA style format. As always, be sure to provide appropriate citations, references, and links to any information you use in this paper. Be sure to also avoid copying and pasting large sections of text from any given source.
