This week we are making the transition from Exploration and Cultural Contact to looking at urban space. This week’s question is:
What is your favorite city? What characteristics make it your favorite? How does that city contribute to your sense of place?

You will write about your experience and the importance of media in your life. The first section of the paper will describe how and why you use media in relation to uses and gratification theory discussed in class and in the book. The second section will involve analyzing Neil Postman’s arguments in “Amusing Ourselves to Death†about the difference between print and visual culture and the impact of television and internet on your life and whether you believe this supports Postman’s and Huxley’s views about society and entertainment. The paper must be typed, your paper will be evaluated on both the content and the form, so address the assignment and polish your grammar, spelling, usage and organizational skills.

Implementing Strategic Decisions
Assume that you have been hired to lead a team of instructional designers in the creation and implementation of a large project. You have scheduled your first design meeting with the group. Create a presentation which addresses how you would handle the following strategic decisions:
How do you define a course?
What kind of e-learning is best?
What alternative forms of e-learning might you consider?
How will you reuse content?
What standards must you follow?
How will you name your courses?
Each topic should be labeled with one of the above labels.

Your goal in this assignment is to study Gaps strategy in deflecting criticism of working conditions. Wal-Mart suffered in the 1990s when its celebrity endorser, Kathie Lee Gifford, received criticism over working conditions in the foreign plants making her clothing line. Study Gap’s strategy, its reporting, and its policies regarding social responsibility. What are the advantages and disadvantages in terms of marketing? Would you recommend such a strategy for Wal-Mart? Why or why not
Diversity Essay
Essay length should be at least 1000 words and include cited factual support from at least three scholarly sources. The text can be used as one source, but should not be the primary source of information for this essay. This essay should be formatted in APA format with a title page, body of paper, and reference list. The following elements must be included in your essay.
Review the general lack of diversity in the early days of psychology and how this might have impacted both topics that were studied as well as what was researched.
We know from our discussions thus far in the class that the early days of psychology were dominated by European white men. How do you think that their cultural perspectives might have helped or hurt the early development of psychology?
Review some key events in the history of psychology (either people or research studies) that expanded the diversity of psychological study for two of the following categories (gender, race, religion, etc.).
Find and discuss two current research studies from psychological journals that are studying diverse populations.
Reflect on advancements made in increasing diversity within the field of psychology. How far have we come? What still need to be done to continue to diversify the field?
Write 750-1000 word essay comparing and contrasting the views of Plotinus and Aquinas on the existence and nature of God. How do these views affect their ethical worldview and how does Augustine’s worldview coincide or differ with those of Plotinus and Aquinas?
