Project Deliverable 4: Infrastructure and Security

Due Week 8 and worth 150 points

This assignment consists of two (2) sections: an infrastructure document and a revised Gantt chart or project plan. You must submit both sections as separate files for the completion of this assignment. Label each file name according to the section of the assignment for which it is written. Additionally, you may create and / or assume all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

The last section of the project plan will present the infrastructure in accordance with the parameters set forth at the outset of the project. The network solution that is chosen should support the conceived information system and allow for scalability. The network infrastructure will support organizational operations; therefore, a pictorial view of workstations, servers, routers, bridges, gateways, and access points should be used. In addition, access paths for Internet access should be depicted. A narrative should be included to explain all the nodes of the network and the rationale for the design. Lastly, using the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) Triangle, define the organizational security policy. CIA is a widely used benchmark for evaluation of information systems security.

Section 1: Infrastructure Document

1. Write a five to ten (5-10) page infrastructure document in which you:

a. Design a logical and physical topographical layout of the planned network through the use of graphical tools in Microsoft Word or Visio, or an open source alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.

b. Illustrate the possible placement of servers including access paths to the Internet and firewalls. Note: Facility limitations, workstations, printers, routers, switches, bridges and access points should be considered in the illustration.

c. Explain the rationale for the logical and physical topographical layout of the planned network.

d. Create a comprehensive security policy for the company that will:

i. Protect the company infrastructure and assets by applying the principals of CIA. Note: CIA is a widely used benchmark for evaluation of information systems security, focusing on the three core goals of confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.

ii. Address ethical aspects related to employee behavior, contractors, password usage, and access to networked resources and information.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the students name, the professors name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
Include charts or diagrams created in MS Visio or Dia as an appendix of the infrastructure document. All references to these diagrams must be included in the body of the infrastructure document.

Tesla Motors is a unique company that manufacturers automobiles that run 100 percent on electricity and has received a lot of attention in the media. In spite of loans from the federal government and various tax advantages given to alternative fuel vehicle manufacturers, the company has had huge ups and downs and has come close to bankruptcy at least once. However, they have recently had enough success to repay a large loan from the government.

Initially Tesla only produced expensive sports cars that only the very rich could afford, but they are now expanding into producing more cost effective vehicles. But in spite of recent successes they do face many hurdles. They are a relatively small company compared to the world’s major auto manufacturers. They face competition from hybrid vehicles such as the Toyota Prius which are much cheaper. Nissan has even come out with a relatively inexpensive fully electric vehicle – the Leaf.

Consumer may also be unwilling to face the inconvenience of a fully electric vehicle. They are very few recharging stations compared to gas stations in the U.S., and it takes far longer to recharge an electric vehicle than to fill a vehicle up with gas. So while there is large public support for environmentally friendly vehicles that will lower our dependence on foreign oil, Tesla does face many obstacles and must carefully plan their future in order to compete with the large auto companies and expand their consumer base.

Do some research on Tesla and the market for electric vehicles, and see what you can find regarding Tesla’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Here are a couple of articles to get you started:

Once you have completed your research write a 4- to 5-page paper addressing the following items:

1. Conduct a SWOT analysis of Tesla Motors with specific discussion about what you think are the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing Tesla.
2. Based on your SWOT analysis, give some recommendation for some specific steps Tesla should take in order to grow and remain competitive.

For this assignment, you will create a class to describe the product that is being ordered. You will then modify your code to create an instance of this class and utilize it in the ordering process.

Consider the properties or attributes and methods that are related to your product. Using a Unified Modeling Language (UML) class diagram, describe these properties and methods. Consider the properties or attributes that are related to your ordering system. Use a UML class diagram to describe the ordering system class. Be certain to include appropriate get- and set-methods for each of your class properties. Be certain that all of your class instance variables are declared private. All the methods should be declared public.

Create a Java class that implements your UML class diagram for your product. Modify your existing code to make use of your product class by moving all appropriate variables and methods into the class. You will need to create an instance of your product class in your main method so that your program runs correctly. The execution (and screen captures) of your revised program should match those of the previous week.

Perform a screen capture of each of the ordering system dialogs that display during execution just after you have entered the requested information. Place these screen captures in Week 4: Object-Oriented Techniques.
Create UML class diagrams and update your use case diagrams where appropriate to reflect the new organization of your program. Place your revised diagrams in this Week’s section in your revised document.
