Focus on the challenges created by cultural differences and how, as a scholar practitioner, you can address these challenges.

Question 1: Challenge of Diversity
One focus of cultural psychology is the comparison of individualistic and collectivistic cultures and an examination of how psychological processes are used to socialize members of a culture. Various psychological processes, including aggression, moral reasoning and identity development, lead to culture-specific and universal attitudes, beliefs, and norms. The implications of these differences in terms of group dynamics are paramount. As you reflect on this week’s Learning Resources, focus on the challenges created by cultural differences and how, as a scholar practitioner, you can address these challenges.
For this, consider two or three challenges brought about by cultural differences between people.
With these thoughts in mind:
Write a description of two current challenges that may arise from cultural differences in today’s world. Then explain two ways you might address those challenges in your professional life. Support your responses using current literature.
Question 2: Social Change
In this course, you may have found it interesting to discover how extensively culture impacts psychology. Culture influences human development, identity and personality, attitudes and beliefs, and healthcare. As a scholar-practitioner, you may want to create a positive social change. In doing so, reflect on your future role as a scholar-practitioner. Consider the possible future research related to culture and psychology you might be interested in conducting. Think about how you may affect social change.
For this, reflect on how learning about the impact of culture on human psychology can help you develop as a scholar-practitioner, dedicated to positive social change.
With these thoughts in mind:
Write a brief description of two topics related to culture that you might be interested in researching further. Then, as a future scholar-practitioner, explain two ways you might impact social change in relation to culture and psychology. Be specific and use examples to illustrate your points.

Please separate questions and give 3 sources each.

Write a short paper (450-600 words) that demonstrates a brief analysis of the quantitative research article you selected.

This assignment uses a similar strategy to the assignment in week one, except that it focuses on quantitative research. You will find another article related to your topic of interest (same topic as week one—do not change topics). Use the library and the same essential process that was described last week, including the preparation of a 600 word paper to submit along with the article that you find (upload 2 documents: your submittal and source document). Consult the rubric associated with weekly assignments to see the grading criteria. NOTE: SELECT AN ARTICLE THAT WAS PUBLISHED WITHIN THE LAST TEN YEARS. Avoid articles that contain qualitative research.

DETAILS:

1. Using the same topic you selected in week one, and utilizing a similar research strategy in the online library, find a journal article that presents quantitative scholarly research associated with your topic. Remember that scholarly research involves solving problems. If your article does not use quantitative methodology then you do not have an appropriate research article. For the purposes of this assignment you want to intentionally find a research article that contains quantitative methodology. Consult the Creswell textbook for assistance. Save the article to your computer to have as a reference and also to attach to the professor when your paper is completed.

2. Avid research skills need to be applied in this exercise. In Proquest or EBSCO, make the “Advanced Search” do the work for you. Utilize all three boxes in the search window. For example, if you are trying to identify a scholarly journal with the topic of leadership that has hypotheses or questions identified, then in the first search box use the key word “leadership” in the next search box use the key word “hypotheses” and the last search box use the key word “research question.” . You also may want to do a search and change one of the key words to “quantitative” that produce an article that reports a quantitative study that may have hypotheses and/or research questions associated with the study.
REMEMBER to check the “Scholarly Journal” box and the “Full-text” box. Also, viewing the article in the PDF version will allow a better viewing of the quantitative research article in its entirety.

3. Write a short paper (450-600 words) that demonstrates a brief analysis of the quantitative research article you selected. You are to write your paper in such a way as to answer the questions/issues below. However, do not include the list on your paper. Instead, let the items guide the content expressed in your paper, which should be in typical paragraph form.
•State the research problem or issue in the study.
•State the hypothesis/questions or objectives. Were they stated clearly?
•What questionnaires/survey instruments were used to answer the problem?
•What was the population used in the study? Was there a sample used? If so, how was the sample selected? How many were in the sample?
•What were the statistical techniques (Examples: mean, median, mode, ANOVA, MANOVA, regression analysis, etc.) used to analyze the data?
•Summarize the results. How clearly were the results presented?
•What are the limitations of the study? Are they stated?
•Summarize the conclusion(s). Are the conclusions presented clearly? Does the data support the conclusions? Does the researcher over generalize the findings?
•How can the results and conclusions presented in this study be applied in your particular field of study or work environment?

4. Utilize the APA Helps in the Resources area to help you present your brief paper in APA format, which means that you need to write a Title Page and References Page separate from the body of the text of the paper (no abstract or author note are needed). On this assignment you should write the publication information about your article on the References Page and then also cite the source in the body of the paper when you are stating facts.

NOTE: Do not use macros or automatic referencing in your papers for this course. The auto features usually cause unforeseen problems in format. Plus, part of this course involves the student’s acquisition of the essentials of the APA style format

After you read and annotate Vicki Hearne’s persuasive essay “What’s Wrong with Animal Rights?”

After you read and annotate Vicki Hearne’s persuasive essay “What’s Wrong with Animal Rights?” choose one aspect represented in the “Quick Guide to Analyzing Persuasive Speeches” (Tone/Voice; Thesis and overall structure; universalities; research; orsolutions to the problem at hand) and briefly write an analytical response to the writing, much like you would do for a standard response quiz. Be sure to include actual direct quote passages from the essay to substantiate the examples. If applicable, compare/contrast this essay with the essay “The Rights of Animals” by Brigid Brophy. Keep in mind that you are writing this as part of a class discussion

Explain why the Facility Layout and the Work System Design is important.

Explain why the Facility Layout and the Work System Design is important? How does it impact the business and workforce? What could go wrong if the two are not correct?

Paper must be written in a coherent manner.
Check grammar and spelling. Very important! Please do not omit words in sentences!
Proper in-text citation and references is a must!
Use credible sources only.
Do not have headings or titles for paragraphs. Professor deducts points for that.
Even though I indicated only one source, the writer may use more than that.

Compare and contrast the GDP per capita of the Arab world in 2013 with the GDP per capita of each one of the following countries: France, Germany, Japan, Israel, and the United States in 2013

Blog 2

Read carefully “Who Gets What From Imported Oil?” at http://www.opec.org/opec_web/static_files_project/media/downloads/publications/Who_Gets_What_Feb2014.pdf.
Write a concise paragraph (100-150 words) in which (1) you state the main point made in the reading and (2) you express your own view on OPEC wealth and power based on “who gets what from imported oil.” To submit blogs in this course, you click on the link to the blog as it appears in one of the subheadings of Course Documents, create a blog entry by typing it, and post it. Do not submit blogs from course tools, as attachments, or as email messages because they will not be accepted. This is Blog 2 and it is worth 2 points (2 percent of your final grade).

Homework 2

1. Access the CIA World Factbook at: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html

2. Using the menu “Select a Country or Location,” compute the total GDP (in US dollar) of all 22 Arab League members (note that the State of Palestine is implicitly referred to as “Gaza Strip” and “West Bank” (because the State of Israel continues to pressure the U.S. not to recognize the State of Palestine) in 2013 (or the available year). You should use ONLY the “GDP ( official exchange rate)” whenever available, NOT the GDP (purchasing power parity). Using the same CIA source, compute also the total population of the 22 Arab League states. Find out the GDP per capita of the 22 Arab League members. The GDP per capita is obtained by dividing the total GDP (official exchange rate in US dollar) in 2013 (or the available year) by the total population in 2014 (or the available year).

3. Compare and contrast the GDP per capita of the Arab world (the 22 Arab League members) in 2013 (or the available year) with the GDP per capita of EACH ONE of the following countries: France, Germany, Japan, Israel, and the United States in 2013 (or the available year).

4. Compare and contrast the GDP per capita of the State of Israel with the GDP per capita of the State of Palestine (West Bank and Gaza Strip).

Based on (1) the above compare-and-contrast analysis and (2) the publicized stereotypes about the wealth of the Arab world, write a 200 to 300 word-essay summarizing your findings and conclusions which MUST be illustrated by citing (only in text) the correct compared figures (GDP per capita). Do not submit tables or separate figures with your essay, but you should cite the relevant figures in the body of the essay to make your point.

Homework 2 is worth 5 points (5 percent of your final grade). Sources for homework assignments must be cited briefly and ONLY between parentheses in the text. Each homework assignment in this course must be formatted as a Microsoft Word file and uploaded through the TurnItIn link (View/Complete) by the deadline. No other submission will be accepted.
