All papers must use a minimum of five primary and five secondary sources. You may use the sources assigned for this course, but you may not count them toward the minimum sources for your project. At least two of your secondary sources must be academic journal articles.

Your paper should have a minimum of 10 sources, five primary and five secondary sources. (If you are unfamiliar with this distinction, check out the information here: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/workshops/hypertext/ResearchW/resource.html.) Restrict your sources to newspaper articles from major national and international papers, published journals and magazine articles, academic sources, and websites from major organizations and government agencies. Course materials may be used as a reference, but it does not count toward the minimum number of sources. Encyclopedias and dictionaries are not appropriate sources for college level work. Online sources are fine, but they must be authoritative sources. Wikipedia, About.com, and other nonacademic websites are not acceptable sources. (Bear in mind that anyone can submit an article to Wikipedia.)

If you are unsure about how to determine whether an online source is a good one, the Online Writing Lab at Purdue University has an excellent resource guide: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/research/r_evalsource4.html. If you still have doubts as to whether a source is acceptable, send your instructor an e-mail.

Why do management opposes unionization?

Unionization

Why management opposes unionization
Management is usually opposed to unionization because; maintaining jobs can limit productivity, when staff reduction is necessary and it cannot be carried out because of union laws. They oppose unions because; they always voice the workers grievances and push for higher pay. Managers are also opposed to unions, as they encourage employees to strike to fight for their rights. This sometimes cripples the performance of the organization (Geoff & Janet, 2004).  Unions and their members also engage in efforts of ensuring that, technology is not fast adopted to avoid losing some of its members. I do not agree with the managements as every employee has a right to join an organization of their choice.
Driving forces that led people to sacrifice to form unions
Some of the major forces that led people to form unions include; to fight for higher pay, as unions helps them fight for a pay rise. They also formed unions to push for better healthcare benefits. Unions are also formed to fight for the provision of a better pension scheme. People also formed unions to ensure that, the management includes them in decision making process that concern the organization and them as individuals (Richard & Joel, 2006).  Yes it was worth it, as employees get a pay rise, better healthcare benefits, and good pension schemes and are better treated by the management.
Benefits of unions and sacrifices made
Benefits of joining unions include; employees get better wages, there increased access to benefits like medical benefit and pension schemes. Employees enjoy job security. Union members are also able to push for their rights as there is strength in numbers (Michael, 2009).  Employees in unions enjoy representation as the union work on their behalf when they have personal issues. Some of the sacrifices made by employees who join unions include; the risk of losing their jobs, they sacrifice a lot of money as dues to the unions and also risk they live in the process of fighting for their rights.
