There are five essential principles of management. These include planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and leading. For this assignment you will conduct outside research of the topics of planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and leading.

You have been asked to give a presentation to a group of new managers in a health care setting. This presentation must cover each of the five principles discussed above. For each principle you will need to provide a real world example in which you or another leader has successfully performed the function and the impact that function had. You need to demonstrate in your presentation the value each principle has in the real word.

Identify an organized criminal enterprise. Research the organization’s activities for the last 10-20 years and identify common “legitimate” businesses they engage in or are associated with. Explain the “benefit” type relationship that exists between the organization and the local business community Explain the extent of the relationship, how each party benefits, the common activities/industries involved, and any successful efforts by law enforcement to detect or intercede.

Your organization has recently experienced growth in the number of employees on its payroll. In response to this, you are beginning the recruitment process for an additional payroll clerk. You would like to create a job analysis before writing any job advertisements. As part of the information gathering process, you have decided to create a job questionnaire that the current payroll clerk will complete. You will then conduct Internet research to develop a list of performance expectations for this position. Finally, you will draft ideas for meeting Equal Employment Opportunity guidelines during the recruitment process.

Part I: Create a job questionnaire (1-2 pages)

You may refer to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook for job description information that can help you form your questions.
The questionnaire should be directed to the employee (e.g., What do you…).
At a minimum, your questionnaire should elicit information about the following:
Duties performed
Special qualifications
Equipment used
Working conditions
Interaction with others
Supervisory responsibilities
Decision-making responsibilities

Part 2: Performance Expectations List (1 page)

Use the Internet to research performance measures for the position of a payroll clerk. (You may want to refer back to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook).
Create a list of at least 8 performance measures for this position.

ORG-2 Discussion two ( With two response.)

1. Discuss the biggest lesson you learned in terms a business’s environment from the Malcolm Gladwell video. (Choice, Happiness, Spaghetti.)

2. Watch the following You Tube videos on the ideas of Gert Hofstede and Chinese culture. Give examples of how Hofstede’s dimensions can cause problems if ignored by a manager expanding operations overseas.

· How do the US and China compare on these dimensions?

· What should you do if he/she finds the cultural traditions of another country morally offensive?

3. Consider the concept of diversity. Give examples of how you have seen diversity in terms of age, ethnicity, gender, nationality or religion help problem solving and how you have seen diversity cause conflicts

Globalization

Directions:

Think about what you have read and seen in the news on globalization. Consider the fact that the clothing we wear, the cars that we drive, the cell phones we use to communicate and the computers we use to work, are each likely to have been manufactured in whole or in part in different parts of the world. While there are still companies and firms that maintain local and national borders, it is almost unheard of in the 21st century that an industry does not maintain an international strategic position.

From an executive’s position, identify and explain at least three challenges and opportunities that might face an international executive over the next five years. Provide possible solutions of how the executive might address these issues in order for their firm to maintain a competitive advantage.

Prepare a 4-6 page paper that describes the impact of globalization on U.S. businesses. In your analysis, please include information about the impact of at least four economic drivers that might impact globalization.

Research and describe an organized crime group that flourished in the early to mid twentieth century. How might the group’s role in providing assistance to the community reinforce its’ ethnic makeup? Why was this important to immigrants?

Instructions:

Using Walmart as the organization, prepare a 1,200-word paper defining and explaining the

importance of understanding shared vision and organizational culture in the context of change for your selected organization.

Examine modeling as a facilitator of change and explain the three models of change that were discussed for this week.

As a mental health worker in a large city, you have been asked to work with refugee children who have been relocated from central Nigeria to live with foster families in your city. The children are between the ages of 9 and 13, boys and girls. They were rescued from a refugee camp in Nigeria where conditions were very poor. People were cramped and slept in rudimentary shelters. Food was scarce, and disease was rampant. Prior to arriving in the camp, the children were exposed to brutal violence. They saw their families murdered, houses burned, and witnessed or experienced sexual assault. Some were also injured in the attacks on their villages.

Describe the psychological effects of violence that the children from Nigeria might be experiencing? Be sure to consider issues such as gender and age.
