write your response about how passion is depicted in each of the stories. You can feel free to reflect on some of the other qualities that were mentioned, such as “kind-hearted,” “optimistic,” and “idealistic.”

For your first response paper, I would like you to think about some of the characteristics of “lovers” that we discussed and defined at the beginning of the semester. The three stories we’ve read (Karamzin’s “Poor Liza,” Tolstoy’s “The Kreutzer Sonata,” and Chekhov’s “The Lady with the Dog”) are all love stories, in a way, though not necessarily uplifting ones. The most-often repeated trait of lovers in our discussion was “passionate,” so I would like you to write your response about how passion is depicted in each of the stories. You can feel free to reflect on some of the other qualities that were mentioned, such as “kind-hearted,” “optimistic,” and “idealistic.” Your paper should be 2-3 pages, double spaced, in a standard 12-point font. You will need to use specific examples from the stories to make your points — when using quotes from the stories from the Project Gutenberg site, if there are no page numbers, you should refer to the chapter or section number. You should see a rubric for paper grading below. You will upload your paper through this page, and I have enabled Turnitin to review for any large chunks of un-cited text. If Turnitin does flag your paper, don’t worry, I will still use my own judgment about whether anything seems plagiarized, and I will discuss it with you first.

Where should you place the recipient’s address in most letters?

Where should you place the recipient’s address in most letters?
What should the body paragraphs contain?
Who is the general audience for most letters?
What are the differences between letters and memos?

This is an example

1.  Where should you place the recipient’s address in most letters?
The sender’s address should be at the top of the letter one line above the date.  If writing to a company within the United States, the date should be written out in the month, day and year format. (Example: September 19, 2015). The inside address, or recipient’s address, begins two to four lines below the date. The recipient’s address is always aligned at the left margin.[1]
2.  What should the body paragraphs contain?
The first paragraph should provide a brief introduction stating why you are writing. The following paragraphs should give more information/details about your request. Provide as much background information as possible. The last paragraph should restate, or summarize, why you are writing and what action you would like for the recipient to take.  Include in this paragraph information on where you can be reached.
3.  Who is the general audience for most letters?
An executive, employer, admissions office at a college, or other higher personnel at a business
4.  What are the differences between letters and memos?
The audience: Letters are used to communicate with members outside of an organization while memos are used to communicate with members inside the organization.  Letters use full block or modified block style and are more formal.  They use salutations and signature lines.  Memos are less formal, using a heading that includes: to, from, subject, or other information to dictate what the memo is about.   Memos do not have a signature, however, the person writing the memo will usually initial it next to their name.

Describe your experiences using resources, including concerns encountered when conducting academic research through the Ashford University Library. Areas of concern may include developing a research strategy, using the search function within a database, or evaluating sources. Explain how using the Ashford University Library has improved your experience in conducting research.

General Education Capstone Class

Knowing how to thoroughly research a topic is extremely important while achieving your education. You may be asked to support your information with peer-reviewed scholarly resources, but how can you find this type of resource? The Ashford University Library allows you to search through different avenues to find the requested types of resources. You can narrow your search by the author, year published, title, subject, and also by indicating what type of resource you are looking for. You even have access to a librarian if you need some guidance in finding more resources on your topic.

This week, you will take the Standardized Assessment of Information Literacy Skills (SAILS) Exam. This exam is not graded, and your results are anonymous. The exam will exit from your screen immediately after completion, and you will not receive feedback or results. This is a nationally-normalized, standardized exam for students in universities all over the United States. The results of this assessment will guide Ashford University in developing the best possible library resources and research methodologies training. Results will be published (in aggregate) on Ashford’s assessment website. Your participation is voluntary, so thank you for your participation. Click on the link to access the SAILS Exam. http://test.projectsails.org/test/QCE-DPO/036-788

After completing the SAILS Exam, in a two- to three-paragraph response:

Describe your experiences using resources, including concerns encountered when conducting academic research through the Ashford University Library. Areas of concern may include developing a research strategy, using the search function within a database, or evaluating sources.
Explain how using the Ashford University Library has improved your experience in conducting research.

The response must be formatted according to APA style. Each paragraph should be at least five sentences. For information regarding APA, including samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford Writing Center.

Identify at least 2 pieces of legislation specifically dealing with discrimination in promotion and hiring Provide at least one advantage and one disadvantage of each piece of legislation.

You work for a large technology firm. Recently the human resources department has provided notice that a vacancy has opened up for the District manager position. The notice lists the education and experience qualifications and the duties of the position. The notice further provides the means for applying for the position and that the position will be filled internally rather than looking for an external candidate. Further, the notice provides the deadline as to when candidates who want to be considered should provide the required information.

When looking to fill positions, whether a promotion or new hire, employers must make sure that they properly list the qualifications and requirements of the job so that the candidate can provide to the employer how they are qualified for the position.

This allows the employer to avoid any issue of possible discrimination or improper actions in the hiring and promoting procedure.

In framing your response, review leading legislation that employers must adhere to when dealing with promotions and hiring:

Identify at least 2 pieces of legislation specifically dealing with discrimination in promotion and hiring
Provide at least one advantage and one disadvantage of each piece of legislation
