Use the MLA citation style2) In the following post, discuss two poems POSTED IN THE CLASS. In a short, 500 word essay, discuss how one of the poems you have chosen is an example of modern literature and the other poem you have chosen is an example of postmodern poetry. Use quotes to identify the quality of modernism or postmodernism you wish to discuss. Then use quotes from the poems you have chosen to discuss how they are examples of modernism or postmodernism.
The evolution of warfare: Threats to physical security are no longer limited to armies, bombers, tanks, and ships to wreak havoc on our nation. Physical security as we know it ends when the power goes off. The Andres article in the background readings outlines the debilitating effects on national security that would result from the breakdown of vital electric power infrastructure. In the first few minutes of a national outage, virtually all commerce would cease as electronic systems went down. Gasoline pumps would stop. Telephones, including those used by government and emergency responders, would quickly cease functioning. Cities that use electricity to pump water would lose water pressure, and sewage systems would back up into fresh water. Fuel pipelines would cease to function. Most households have three days of food available and no stored potable water. Hospitals would continue to function for a few days. National Guard and law enforcement agencies have stated on the record that they believe their employees would stop coming to work after less than a week. Disease and starvation would set in within days (Andres, 2015).Your Task:For this assignment use the same major national or global cyber and physical security (CPS) threat example that was used to complete assignment 1. 1. Describe physical security threats to the United States as a result of the breakdown of SCADA control systems.
2. What are the physical security threats to the United States, your state, and your hometown?
3. In your opinion, is the United States prepared for such a critical infrastructure collapse?
Transitioning from cybersecurity to physical security, this module examines how our nation’s critical infrastructure is affected by the vulnerable cyber technology that controls its daily functions.
In his 2012 Defcon 20 cybersecurity conference presentation, Dan Tentler, founder of the San Diego-based information security consulting firm AtenLabs, shared screenshots of dozens of connected devices he could find on the Internet using a laptop and browser. He was able to access several critical infrastructure systems, showing that they were vulnerable to cyber-attack. His presentation vividly demonstrated that the Internet was not designed with security in mind.
Network-ready industrial control systems that monitor and control the physical processes of machines have become the instruments that contribute to a threat we call physical security. The machines we rely on to supply energy, drinking water, and safe food are at risk. The potential security weakness of SCADA systems was exposed by a cyber-attack against the Natanz Iran uranium enrichment facility. A computer worm, called Stuxnet, caused the facility’s control systems to make the centrifuges spin out of control. Stuxnet, a cyber-weapon that changed modern warfare, does not discriminate between nations; it simply attacks and destroys computer-managed machines.

ALEXANDRA LASKIE, The Weekly Times February 28, 2018 11:30pmTO THE delight of Goulburn Valley orchardist Vic Scali, his familys 30,000 pear trees are positively dripping with healthy fruit. Picking will start this week at Scali Orchards in Shepparton East, and Mr Scali is expecting a bumper crop, perhaps up as much as 30 per cent on last years yields. Off-hand I think we could be up by 300 to 400 bins (of pears) on last year, he said. We normally get about 1500 bins, but I reckon we could get closer to 2000 this year. The family business, run by Vic and Theresa Scali and their son Domenic and his wife,
Vanessa, will employ up to 20 contractors in the next month to help pick their packham, beurre bosc and josephine de malines pears before moving on to harvest fruit from their 65,000 apple trees. Despite some sun damage due to hot spells in late January and early February, the crops were looking pretty good, Vic said. We do a lot of the work ourselves to grow the best fruit, we cant afford to have rubbish in the bin, he said. The Scali family have been growing fruit in the Goulburn Valley for almost 40 years. Vic has lived in the region since he was seven, when he moved to Australia with his family from Calabria, Italy. He started his working life as a welder in Shepparton, but turned his hands to fruit to spend more time outdoors. His family grows apples (pink lady, granny smith, gala, golden delicious and fuji) and pears (packham, beurre bosc and josephine de malines) across almost 60ha. About 80 per cent of their produce is sold at the Melbourne Wholesale Market at Epping, with surplus fruit sold to a packing shed. From there it is either exported offshore or sold at the South Australian Produce Market.https://www.weeklytimesnow.com.au/agribusiness/horticulture/bumperpear-harvest-predicted-at-goulburn-valleyorchard/newsstory/9e9ca3375c340817b834053d00b708cbPlease read the article Bumper pear harvest predicted at Gouldburn Valley orchard published on February 28th 2018 and answer the following questions:Questions
1. a. Assume pears are sold in a perfectly competitive market, using a supply and demand graph, describe the impact, ceteris paribus, of a bumper crop on equilibrium price and output? In your discussion make sure to explain the process of moving to the new equilibrium output and price. (6 marks)b. Using a supply and demand graph, describe the impact, ceteris paribus, of an expectation of a bumper crop in Australia on the current market equilibrium price and output. (4 marks)2. Policy Analysis Research Paper Topic: Military Medical Malpractice/Negligence The position paper should be 13 double spaced pages, Arial font, with one-inch margins along all four sides using APA style excluding the title and reference page. Ensure the topic is supported by research. Personal views are best when supported by studies or quality experts in the field. My supporting argument reconsidering the Feres doctrine in military medical malpractice cases and by making some amendments or overturning it. Use original thoughts when stating personal views. – Present the topic, with a justification of its importance (Why does this issue require Congressional action?) – Assess whether the policy achieved its objective – Take a position of the topic (for or against), justify your position by using policy analysis tools – Present data to support your position – What policy/policies can be implemented – Recommend action to the committee Paper Outline: I. In court documents, Daniel alleged the care team failed to prevent postpartum hemorrhaging, which caused Rebekah to lose more than 1,500 ml of blood nearly one-third of the amount of blood in the average human body. A suit was filed in 2015 through the lower court but was rejected because of Feres. It was then sent to the Court of Appeal, which upheld the ruling with a cause for the Supreme Court to hear. Prohibits a claim under this Act from being reduced by the amount of any benefit received under Servicemembers Group Life Insurance. Makes this Act inapplicable to any claim arising out of the combatant activities of the Armed Forces during the time of armed conflict. How are military medical providers held accountable? Feres Doctrine – protects the U.S. government from being held liable for negligence while on duty. The ruling stems from the 1947 death of Lt. Rudolph Feres, an active-duty soldier killed in a barracks fires at Camp Pine, . now Fort Drum. His widow sued the Army for negligence, claiming the facility had a defective heating plant and substandard fire safety controls. But the Supreme Court three years later ruled that under the law a servicemember performing military duties did not fall under the Federal Tort Claims Act, which allows certain civil lawsuits against the government or government employees. Lower courts have repeatedly cited the decision in preventing troops from suing the services for malpractice.

You are also expected to be precise, professional, and persuasive in justifying the merit of your proposed actions. When creating your policy and guidelines it may be helpful to utilize the template that your current care setting or organization uses. Your setting’s risk management or quality department could be a good resource for finding an appropriate template or format. If you are not currently in practice, or your care setting does not have these resources, there are numerous appropriate templates freely available on the Internet.Proposal RequirementsNote: The tasks outlined below correspond to grading criteria in the scoring guide. In your proposal, senior leaders have asked that you:Explain why a change in organizational policy or practice guidelines is needed to address a shortfall in meeting a performance benchmark prescribed by applicable local, state, or federal health care laws or policies.
-What is the current benchmark for the organization? What is the numeric score for the underperformance?
-How might the benchmark underperformance be affecting the quality of care being provided or the operations of the organization?
-What are the potential repercussions of not making any changes?Recommend ethical, evidence-based strategies to resolve the performance issue.
-What does the evidence-based literature suggest are potential strategies to improve performance for your targeted benchmark?
-How would these strategies ensure improved performance or compliance with applicable local, state, or federal health care laws or policies?
-How would you propose to apply these strategies in the context of your chosen professional practice setting?
-How would you ensure that the application of these strategies is ethical and culturally inclusive?
-Does your policy encompass the key components of your recommendations?Analyze the potential effects of environmental factors on your recommended strategies.
-What regulatory considerations could affect your recommended strategies?
