A. Please include and label each step in the following classical conditioning process:
Neutral Stimulus (NS) (Hint: The NS elicits no response, such as the tbell on pg. 200 in the text.)
Unconditioned Stimulus (UCS) {Hint: This is a stimulus that elicits (causes) a reflexive response.}
Unconditioned Response (UCR) (Hint: This is the reflexive response caused by the UCS.)
Conditioned Stimulus (CS) (Hint: Once the NS elicits the same response as the UCS, it is no longer neutral but becomes a CS)
Conditioned Response (CR) (Hint: Once the NS elicits the same response as the UCR, it is no longer neutral but becomes a CR)
B. Use your classical conditioning example above to describe what happens in each of the following:
Extinction – list steps involved in this process.
Spontaneous recovery – describe what happens during this process, and explain what happens to the strength of the CR during spontaneous recovery.
