Student Post: ” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxiMESHz9sE The Equal The Air Force has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment, yet it is still very prevalent. We recently had a briefing about sexual harassment in my office. We were informed of our rights, how to report, the types of reporting. We were told stories of intimidation, shame, blame, bribery, etc and these are issues we are still seeing today. We were told about studies from 2017 that found 1 in every 4 women experience some sort of sexual harassment in the workplace. Another article disclosed that 1 in 10 men experience sexual harassment in the workplace. Sexual harassment is more likely to happen in the business industry, such as an office environment. The video I chose started by making the law clear and ensured that those watching understood how to recognize sexual harassment and policies. It gives clear, written definitions of the terms: harassment, hostile work environments, leering, and offensive conduct. With these definitions they also state examples and scenarios to help understand the differences. The video clearly lays out the policies and your personal responsibilities. Sexual harassment can be verbal, written, physical or visual. Examples would be derogatory comments, jokes, slurs, emails, leering, gesturing, sexually explicit materials, unwelcome touching, hugging, etc. The video gives excellent examples of sexual harassment. Even situations where a employee did not the same pay raise as other employees because she refused to go out with her supervisor. It lists clear examples of sexual harassment and how it effects the work environment. Such as how leering creates a abusive and hostile work environment. It has a section of true/false questions that would assist during staff training. It lists civil rights, laws, supreme court cases, responsivities of all members from man agent and below, and proper actions that will be taken. It is in depth but very clear and straight to the point. It does not leave room for question or confusion which is important.” This post was in response to the following prompt (Please do not respond directly to the prompt) ” Explain: (1) why you consider this a good, effective video for training; and (2) how you would use it as part of a workplace training presentation. Considerations you should include (but are not limited to): (a) clear definition and explanation of sexual harassment are provided; (b) illustration is instructive and effective for a training discussion because…..; and (c) how type(s) of harassment are clearly illustrated (e.g., quid pro quo, hostile environment, both?).” https://www1.eeoc.gov/eeoc/index.cfm https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/practices/index.cfm https://www.dol.gov/opa/aboutdol/lawsprog.htm#.UJ6l3oUWXdY https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/statutes/index.cfm https://www1.eeoc.gov/laws/other.cfm
