A. An Annotated Bibliography (3000 words + or 10%) B. A Completed Development Plan. This plan should be submitted as an appendix to the annotated bibliography. Section A. Annotated Bibliography Select one theme from the list below that has been taught within the Personal Research Skills Module. Continued Professional Development (CPD) Critical Thinking Effective Learning Skills Decision Making You are required to conduct an annotated bibliography on your selected theme. What is an Annotated Bibliography? An annotated bibliography is a written account of the personal research that has been conducted on a certain topic. It is a list of sources (journal articles, books, websites etc.) that have been summarised and critically evaluated to highlight specific information that is key to the research. For the purposes of this assignment for each source you select, you should evaluate and summarise the following: 1. An explanation of the main purpose of the source. 2. A concise summary of the key findings of this work. 3. A short reflection on the quality of the source (e.g. is it a peer reviewed journal, is the author an expert in the topic area?). Each source account should be written in short paragraph form and be around 350-400 words in length. Use the annotated bibliography data collection form found within the module as a resource to help you build up the required information. How many sources should I include and what sources should I select? You should select a range of quality sources to use within the annotated bibliography. This should include: 5 peer reviewed journal articles that are aligned with the topic theme. 1 report in the area identified (particularly desirable are government, industry or professional body reports) 1 book (Select one with specific chapters relating to your research theme). 1 Website (Identify a website or blog that critically appraises the subject of your topic). Section B. Development Plan A completed development plan for the period of your course should be included within this assignment. The template provided in your CPD topic should be used and then included within the appendix of your work.
