You will collect data about the changing demographics in two countries{ United Kingdom and Ecuador} and then use course concepts to analyze and discuss this data by answering a series of questions. The countries are United Kingdom and Ecuador. First, retrieve data from the UNs World Population Prospects 2017 and enter it into your table. Follow these steps: 1. Download the blank data table from the file that is attached to this papaer and save it to your computer or USB stick (you will need to include your completed table as an appendix to your essay.) 2. Go to: http://esa.un.org/unpd/wpp/index.htm. 3. Select Interactive Data. 4. Select one of the indicators that you need to include in your table. 5. Check the box next to each of your countries and click Next. 6. On the next page, select the years (or year ranges) that you need and click Next. (To make sure that you are selecting the correct years, first clear the selection by clicking on the link that says click here to clear all selections.) 7. Fill in the data in the table. 8. Repeat this process for all of the indicators Questions After you have collected the data, answer the following questions, writing in complete sentences and paragraphs. You may answer these one-by-one (i.e., not as an essay). You do not need to copy down the questions you may simply number your answers. Your answer to each question should be between 400-600 words (or a total of 1,200-1,800 words), not including your data table or works cited page. 1. Based on the data in your table, at what stage of demographic transition (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th) was each of your countries during the 1950s? What stage was each country in during 2010-2015? What stage will each country be in during 2050-2055? Explain how you arrived at your conclusions, using specific data (numbers) from your table to support your argument. 2. What additional factors do you think may have influenced trends of population growth, crude birth and crude death rates in each of your countries? For example, you should consider factors such as migration, political changes, economic changes, violent conflict, disease outbreaks, government population policies, etc. Identify at least one factor for each country and provide specific examples to support your argument. To answer this, you will need do some additional research and draw from at least one academic source per country (other than the textbook) and it have to be academic. Make sure that any sources you use are correctly cited. 3. For each country, identify at least one beneficial and one detrimental issue related to the population patterns revealed by your data. Use concepts such old-age dependency ratio, youth dependency ratio, negative natural rate of increase, or improvement in living standards with drops in fertility rates. Again, you will need to do additional research to answer this question. You need to draw from at least one academic source per country and it have to be academic, not from google. (other than the textbook) and cite all sources correctly. Requirements 1. Your answer to each question should be between 400-600 words, not including your data table or works cited page. 2.You should write in full sentences and paragraphs (not bulleted lists).
