This essay will be focused on some aspect of the diverse intellectual and artistic expressions of the world’s religious traditions. The essay must be at least 1000 words, not including the Works Cited page(s), and no more than 1500 words. Essays that do not even meet the minimum word count will simply receive a failing grade. You are required to select two religious traditions covered within this class and compare a related intellectual and/or artistic expressions. These traditions can be ones covered are that we are scheduled to cover in the forthcoming weeks. Intellectual or artistic expressions can be anything from visual arts, to interpretative strategies for texts, the way morality is related to religion in each culture, etc. An alternative to choosing two traditions is comparing two time period within the same traditions. This assignment is intentionally broad in an effort to provide you the freedom to choose a topic you are interested in. However some may need a little more guidance. The way G-d is represented in Jewish scripture in comparison to Christian scripture is completely different.
In this essay, it will consist of comparing the way G-d is represented in Judaism and Christianity. Comparing the text in the Torah and bible would be a very important foundation in this essay. Also, talking about the terms New testament and Old testament in the essay will be very crucial. The Christian church took the Hebrew bible and added books to it. It then became known as the Christian New Testament. Christians refer the Jewish bible as the old testament and their new religion book as the new Testament. In the Jewish religion, it is very important to understand that the Jewish bible is not known as the Old testament. Throughout this essay, it is important to understand that in both religions they believe in the same G-d. The comparison is referring to the way G-d is talked about in each scripture. In Jewish scripture, G-d has been perceived in a variety of ways. In the religion, G-d may be referred to as the G-d of Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, or the national G-d of the Israelites. Instead of stating that God is represented differently for a second time, give a bit more detail about the specific evidence that you will be using to support your argument. Where will you find this evidence? Try to pack a solid overview into those first few sentences. You make some good points in your body paragraphs but you seem to repeat yourself a lot and perhaps don’t have a lot of info to go off of yet. This is ok but your final essay should clear and succinct. External research will help you here. You need to find and use three scholarly sources — published books or journals, not websites.
