You must use at least one scholarly source in addition to the text and your paper must be formatted according to APA style guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Note: Title must appear on the first page of text; headings must be used in all APA essays; and, the final heading of your paper must be the word: Conclusion. Contact your instructor if you have any questions regarding proper formatting.*****Apply Your Knowledge: Stock Screening (3.5 on Stock Screening)**Develop a list of five criteria for activist stock screening. These might include social, political, or environmental issues that are meaningful to you, such as child labor, solar energy, or compliance with certain government regulations.**Then, list 20 commonly traded stocks from the New York Stock Exchange: https://www.nyse.com/index. Research event information for each stock, paying close attention to their products, or management processes, and how they do business. Rank the stocks based on their compliance with the stock screening criteria developed.Based on your activist portfolio, select which of the stocks you would purchase. Then determine what portion of your portfolio each selected stock should constitute. For example, you may choose one particularly positive stock to be 50% of your portfolio while some mix of other stocks will represent the other 50%.
Stock Screening in bookAnother way stockholders try to exert influence over corporate governance is through stock screening. Socially responsible investing (SRI) describes investors who choose stocks based on environmental or social issues. SRI allows investors to reward firms that sell products they admire (environmentally conscious investors might be attracted to solar start-ups, for example) or punish firms that sell products of which they disapprove (so-called sin stocks traditionally include alcohol producers, gun manufacturers, and tobacco companies). A growing number of professionally managed funds also have social filters to help select companies that deserve investment. A socially responsible investment fund mightscreen out companies that have an excessive impact on the environment, overpay executives, or have a history of discriminating against employees. Socially responsible investors can be as varied as the number of fund managers and the causes they espouse, but estimates suggest that when screening and selection strategies are considered, more than 1 of every 9 dollars under investment is invested in an SRI fund; the total size of the SRI market is in excess of $4 trillion (Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, 2016). This fact means that social responsibility concerns have become mainstream enough to affect Wall Street; it also means that socially responsible and sustainable firms looking to attract capital can identify themselves with the SRI movement. Stock screening is a kind of social activism that has an indirect impact on board decisions, but it may have a direct impact on astock’s price and value. Many companies have initiated social responsibility resolutions to guide corporate decisions in the hopes that such moves will increase the value of shares to certain investors.

Were there any lower court decisions that immediately preceded this proceeding and what was the decision?

ASSIGNMENT TASK
Your general research topic for assignments is Canadian immigration/refugee law. However, each assignment will ask you to examine a specific aspect of this theme.
This assignment requires you to write a Case Brief of Charkaoui v Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), a 2007 decision of the Supreme Court of Canada. This case examines the Security Certificate program detailed in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), which determines the admissibility, detention and removal of permanent residents and non-citizens on national security grounds or connections to terrorist activity. The court is asked to decide the constitutionality of the security certificate program.
The case has been attached to the Assignment file in cuLearn. Note: You will need to find the case using Quicklaw and Westlaw to complete this assignment.
The case is about 47 pages long. You will need to read it through several times as you prepare your Case Brief. Make sure you start this assignment well ahead of the due date.
REQUIRED COMPONENTS
Your Case Summary and Analysis should include the following elements. I strongly urge you to use the main headings such as Introduction, Summary of the Case, Analysis and Conclusion. You may also wish to use subheadings.

(Note: do not go into too much detail here and do not comb through the decision for all possible rules and cases referred to. The purpose of this short section is to identify the broad legal parameters governing the dispute. Generally, judges set this information out near the beginning of their judgments.) Just list these with no citations.
5. Decision (1 mark)
” What was the decision in the case and any remedy?
6. Ratio Decidendi (1 marks)
” Identify and state the ratio decidendi of the case. (Note: only identify the ratio for the 4 Charter issues)
7. Judicial Reasoning (9 marks)
” Set out the reasons given by the Court to support their decision.
1. Discuss the reasoning of the Majority in determining whether the Security Certificate provisions of IRPA violate section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. (5 Marks)In your response, make sure to discuss the courts reasons regarding:
” Is the judge independent and impartial,
” Is the decision made by the magistrate based on facts and the law,
” Do the procedures provide the opportunity for a person to know and respond to the case against them,
” Does the Security Certificate procedure conform to the principles of fundamental justice as embodied in section 7 of the Charter?2. If the Majority of the Supreme Court of Canada concludes that the Security Certificate procedures in IRPA have violated section 7 of the Charter, do they think that infringement can be justified under section 1 of the Charter? (3 Marks)3. Discuss the reasoning of the Majority in determining whether the Security Certificate provisions of IRPA violate sections 9 and 10(c) of the Charter and can be justified by section 1. (1 Mark)III. Analysis (3 marks)
” The Supreme Court’s decision in Charkaoui v Canada (Citizenship and Immigration) engages in balancing the governments duty to ensure the security of its citizens by detaining persons who threaten national security but the government’s actions must also follow the rights guaranteed in the Constitution.

Length:
” Your Case Analysis should be no more than 2500 words long (approximately 10 pages). Footnotes or endnotes are not included in the word count. We will give a ‘grace’ allocation of a further 100 words for headings and cover page. You will lose marks if you go over the word limit (pro-rated at the rate of 1 mark/200 words; so you will lose 0.5 marks if you go over 100 words and 1.5 marks if you go over by 300 words and so forth.
” This word limit may seem long when you begin and short when you get into the assignment, but your ability to discern the most relevant information and to focus your Case Analysis is one of the skills being assessed in this Assignment. Pay attention to the mark allocations as a further guide to allocate your word limit.
Apportioning your Words:
” Summarize rather than directly quoting from the judgment except where you wish to comment on particular phrasing. You must provide correct citations for direct quotations from the judgments and after lengthy summaries of parts of the judgment. Numerical integration of the Schrdinger

Numerical integration of the Schrdinger equation6.1 The Problem
Solve for the stationary states of an electron in a ramped infinite square well.6.2 Introduction
A basic problem in quantum mechanics is to find the stationary states (energy levels) of a
bound system, using the time-independent Schrdinger equation (TISE)(-h^2(bar)/2m)(d^2/dx^2)(psi(x)) + V(x)*psi(x) = E*psi(x)In this activity, we will look at the numerical
integration of the differential equation.
The problem we face here is not that of the initial value problem of mechanics, that we dealt
with earlier. We cant just start from some initial value, use numerical integration, and end up
somewhere after some time. Instead, solving the TISE is a boundary value problem. There is
an unknown quantity (E) in the differential equation, and we need to solve for this, subject to
constraints on the boundary conditions of the wave function.
How to go about this? How do we tell if we have a correct value for E (called an eigenvalue)?
We have to look at the properties of the required solution. We find that if E is an energy
eigenvalue, the wave function (x) has the expected behaviour at the boundaries. If we choose
the wrong value for E, then the wave function will not have this property.
Let us consider a specific example. Suppose that we have an electron in a ramped infinite square
well with walls at x = 0 and x = a:V (x) = {bx for 0 < x < a { otherwiseSince the potential energy is infinite outside the well, the electron cannot be beyond the wells walls. Continuity of the wave function then implies that (0) = (a) = 0, exactly as in the case of the unramped infinite square well considered in lectures. However, owing to the changing potential energy in the well, this is a more interesting problem than the one done in class. A way of finding a solution numerically then suggests itself:1. Assume a value for E. 2. Start at one of the walls (e.g. the left wall at x = 0), setting to zero there. 3. Integrate numerically to the other wall. 4. If the numerical solution is close (?!) to zero there, we have a correct value for E 5. If we dont have a correct value, choose another and try again.Ideally, we would use some sort of root-finding algorithm to drive this process, but we will see that it can be done by hand.6.3 Numerical Methods We can do the numerical integration as we have for Newtons equation, by splitting the second order ODE into coupled first order equations. But its just as easy to use a numerical approximation to the second derivatived^2(x)/dx2 (x x) 2(x) + (x + x)/(x)^2Where does this approximation come from? Substitute the Taylor expansion of (x x) into! the RHS of Eq. 6.1 and see.Note that the integration is over x, using a fixed step size x. Then we obtain for the TISE:Then we obtain for the TISE: i+1 = 2i i1 + (x)^2g(E, xi) iwhere g(E, xi) = 2m/h^2(bar)(E V (x)) = 2mc^2/h^2(bar)c^2(E V (x))for i = 1 . . . N 1.Note that, to start this off, we need two values of the wave function. One is at the left wall: 0 = 0. What about the next, 1? We can take any value for this. The wave function is usually taken to be normalised, but this is not a consequence of the solution, but is imposed by our interpretation of the wave function. Any multiple of (x) is still a solution. We can take any value for 1 this simply affects the scaling of the wave function and normalise afterwards.6.4 Model Use the following: a = 3.0 nm, b = 0.5 eV nm^1,mc^2 = 5.11105 eV, h(bar)c = 197.3 eV nm, where c is the speed of light. Note that these values allow you to use natural scale units of eV and nm for an atom-sized problem. (And you dont have to bother with laborious conversions to SI units).6.5 Computer Solution Given the discussion above, we can outline an algorithm for searching for the energy levels in our problem. 1. Integrate from x = 0 nm to x = a = 3.0 nm with a step size of, say, 0.01 nm and a suitable initial value of E (perhaps close to the ground state of the infinite unramped square well of the same dimensions). For the initial values choose 0 = 0 and 1 something small, say 10^6.Some experimenting might be necessary. Print out the value N of the wave function at the right wall. ------------------------------------------------------------------ psi = np . zeros ( N+1,float ) psi [0] = 0. 0 # two initial conditionspsi [1] = 1.0 e6 # i n t e g r a t e for i in range ( 1 , N ) : . . .------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. You can adjust the value of E in order to home in on the eigenvalue for the ground state. Find the region where N changes sign. This indicates that an eigenvalue has been stepped over. You will probably need to read in a value of E from the keyboard. This is easy: ------------------------------------------------------------------- . . . while 1 : # l o o p f o r e v e r w hil e t r yi n g new v al u e s o f E E = input ( Enter a value for E : ) . . . # i n t e g r a t e for i in range ( 1 , N ) : . . . # print out last value ------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Normalize and then plot out the wave function. A simple approximation for an integral is given by the trapezoidal rule(Please look at the file under "Additional files" to see the equation)Can you interpret this equation? Using numpy this can be written: ...***Please look at the file under "Additional files" to see the rest of the assignment,

Review and select one of the three provided case studies. Analyze the patient information. Consider a differential diagnosis for the patient in the case study you selected.

In clinical settings, pediatric patients often present with hematologic and metabolic disorders such as anemia and diabetes. Many of these disorders are manageable with drug therapy and lifestyle changes, but they can pose serious complications for patients if left untreated. In your role as the advanced practice nurse, you must identify patients at risk of hematologic and metabolic disorders and provide the appropriate education for them and their families. Consider potential treatment, management, and education strategies for the patients in the following case studies. Case study 2 Jimmy is a 3-year-old picky eater according to his mother. He refuses to eat anything but waffles for breakfast and macaroni and cheese or chicken nuggets for lunch and dinner. He will eat apples and bananas but refuses all vegetables except corn. After a normal physical examination, you obtained blood testing that revealed the hemoglobin is 11.4 mg/dl and his hematocrit is 30% (both obtained by venipuncture). The CBC revealed microcytic hypochromic RBCs. ** To prepare: Review Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders and Hematologic Disorders in the Burns et al. text. Think about the most likely diagnosis for the patient. Think about a treatment and management plan for the patient. Be sure to consider appropriate dosages for any recommended pharmacologic and/or non-pharmacologic treatments. Consider strategies for educating patients and families on the treatment and management of the hematologic or metabolic disorder. By Day 3 Post an explanation of the differential diagnosis for the patient in the case study you selected. Explain which is the most likely diagnosis for the patient and why. Include an explanation of unique characteristics of the disorder you identified as the primary diagnosis. Then, explain a treatment and management plan for the patient, including appropriate dosages for any recommended treatments. Finally, explain strategies for educating patients and families on the treatment and management of the hematologic or metabolic disorder.

describe two very different types of businesses; one a service-oriented business, the other a product-oriented business.

The first small business case study describes a restaurant entrepreneur/owner who is facing growing pains that desperately need a solution. The second case study is a product-oriented business. As you read the cases studies, note how these different businesses faced both somewhat similar and, at the same time, somewhat different challenges to their continued viability. Start by reading both case studies and make notes of the business type, the situation the Entrepreneur/owner finds himself or herself in, and then thoroughly understand not only the depth, but the long term complications the challenges pose to the viability and growth of the business. Your assignment this week is an essay describing as many possible solutions as you can think of to the challenges these companies face. Also in this paper you will describe both the risks and the possible rewards for each challenge/opportunity that you propose. You will want to support your insights into these businesses and sound logic regarding your selection of a solution, so take a look at the resources located in the Reading & ResourcesSection that follows. Hyperlinks to the two Case Studies for this week: Build a 2nd Restaurant in the Firsts Shadow? Helping One Big Client, but Wanting to Spread Out As you are analyzing the Challenges each of these entrepreneurs faced, make sure you identify and thoroughly discuss all of the implications each solution (and your final solution) has for impacts on: Human resources related (skills, retirement, turnover) Impact on local competition (increased, unscrupulous, larger, e-commerce) Pricing related related issues Possible internal and external hindrances to success Significant requirements for financing, internal organizational structure, and support services (computer, insurance, facilities management, etc.) Product related issues that must be taken into account Service related issues that must be taken into account Infrastructure, inventory, and financing issues that must be taken into account Marketing and advertising considerations Asset requirements Legal, regulatory, or license related issues that must be considered Instructions: You have a lot of leeway regarding both the content and organization of your essay this week. Here is one way to organize a basic outline that presents your narrative effectively: Section 1 – The Business: Describe the two businesses in two different sub-sections. In each sub-section, provide your description of the business, business owner, market, and customer base. Section 2 – The challenge: Describe in some detail the dilemma this business is facing and the challenge it poses to the long term viability, growth, and health of the entrepreneurship. There should be three sub-sections to this section of your essay. The first two sub-sections describe the dilemma and challenges each company faces. The third sub-section compares and contrasts the challenges faced in an attempt to describe how they may be different and how they are somewhat the same. Section 3 – The solutions: in this section you will describe the challenge faced in each case studies. In this section, you will need three sub-sections. In the first two sub sections describe two or three possible solutions to the challenge or dilemma each company faces. The third sub-section again compares and contrasts these solutions between the two case studies Section 4 – Your proposal: This section of your essay is dedicated to your proposed solution to the challenges for each case study and should reflect your analysis of the challenge and your reasoning for choosing a specific solution/path for growth. Finally, in this section, briefly compares and contrasts the two solutions you have proposed and their relative chance for enhancing each small businesses’ chance for continued viability.
