Discuss what a marketing plan is and describe the different components of the marketing plan in your own words.

Also explain, how the marketing plan is helpful to the organization. You do not have to put together a marketing plan for this assignment. * Part 2: Please take the elements/components you have learned in this course (such as the SWOT, goals/objectives, etc.) and translate/apply them into how they would be carried out into the execution of a marketing strategy. Some examples are provided below (these examples CANNOT be used in this assignment) – In a SWOT analysis you determined that one of the strengths of a company was that weekly team meetings were held where ideas are exchanged and communications are awarded to team members who have met or exceeded goals or expectations for the week. How can we translate or incorporate that Strength into a marketing strategy? – Since the ideas being exchanged in the weekly meeting are to foster growth and innovation, camaraderie, excitement, and motivation, they can also be used to generate new ideas for promotion. This weekly team meeting can be leveraged to spur perhaps a name of a new product that company X has been trying to launch for consiiderable amount of time but just havent thought of the right one. – A real world example, Lays Potato Chips reached out to the general public using their social media strength to ask them to come up with a new flavor of potatoe chip. This combined the strengths the company had with the need to execute a new marketing strategy. Through this process, a consumer won $1m for coming up with a new potato chip flavor, and Lays of course won tons of new customers and multiple millions in sales of new product. No abstract need. APA format. Text used from class is: Tanner, J. F., & Raymond, M. A. (2011) Principles of marketing. Irvington, NY: Flat World Knowledge.

Final Project Guidelines Due Date 11:59pm Dec 21st. Please submit digitally via a .doc file or .pdf file to my XXXXX address. Please type last name_final paper (i.e. Lizama_final paper) in subject heading. There will be no excuses accepted regarding any technology reasons you would not be able to send me your paper via email. If you are worried about your emailing prowess send me an email saying hello at least a week before due date. Things you must do for your research project: -You must include visual data of some kind-this can be photographs, maps, graphs etc. that support your research argument. -Your report must be a minimum of 1500 words in length -You must include three academic references as your lit review. -You must include three general references different than your lit review in your discussion section. -Must be in APA style. -You must submit your file to me electronically via email to my lizamascott@gmail.com address by 11:59pm on Dec 21st.. In order to complete your final project, follow through on the 7 steps to doing sociological research. I have broken down the steps here and have provided an example for each step: 1. Define the research process -this step for you is deciding exactly it is that you want to know about your world. Think simple and think about your everyday life (but dont think your everyday life is simple!). Good question: how many men vs women ride in the first subway car to school on average over 3-5 days? Bad question: What is the ethnic makeup of the people on the subway? Bad question: How clean are the public restrooms at Starbucks? 2. Review the evidence -this is your lit review step. You will find at least three references that you can associate with your research project and write about them in this section. You should not review the references but rather explain why you are associating them with your research. They should help you (and me the reader) contextualize your question and formulate your hypothesis. 3. Make the problem precise -this is where you will develop your hypothesis around your research question. This excerpt from your Giddens text best explains this step: Hypotheses are a refinement of the research problem posed in the first step, or educated guesses about what is going on that are based on a review of the relevant evidence. Hypotheses are also formulated in such a way that they can be evaluated using evidence. Facts and data will either support or disprove the hypotheses. 4. Work out a design This is where you will formulate and describe what type of research you will be doing. Is it field observations, surveys, interviews and/or content analysis or maybe even an experiment? The methods chosen should be the best methods to help you answer your question. For example I would not do content analysis if I am trying to understand behavior in a space and I would not do field observations if I am looking at gender bias in online news headlines. 5. Carry out the research This is exactly what it says. Carry out the research according to the methodology you designed in step 4. Make sure you take extensive and detailed notes during your research, you will need these when it comes time to interpret and write up the results. 6. Interpret results Here is where you look at your data and decide if/how it answers your question. For this project your analysis and interpretation should be simple and easily analyzed within the time frame given. 7. Report findings For this assignment your report will be the bulk of your paper. You should be able to write and describe the answer to your research question in this section. Your final paper should have 4 sections, (1)the introduction of your project that includes your literature review, (2)the detailed description of your methodology and your personal experience of doing this method, and (3)an in depth description on your results of your findings (4) a short discussion on your research. These four sections followed up with a conclusion should constitute your entire final paper. All of this research should be done within the framework of one of the major sociological theories (functionalism, conflict, feminist, etc.) we have discussed in class. If you find you are having problems reaching the 1500 word minimum then you need to find more sources relevant to your research question that you can address with your data.
