Do you see a narrative different from identity and transcendence? Is there a book/film/painting/musical that you would like to add?

As you know, the instructors of Exploration & Discovery pick a minimum of three works to be shared across all sections, to be supplemented by other texts of the instructors choosing. If the works we read this semester were put into an anthology, what would the introduction to that book look like? Imagine that you are working for Penguin or Norton and are assembling an anthology for students with these readings. Write the introduction to such a book. Pick three works from our class this semester, add at least one more of your own choosing, and discuss what the shared theme is. Pitch this not as an argumentative essay but as a kindly survey of what you have chosen and why. For the introduction, you will need to present to your reader the main issue(s) your volume addresses; define a few key terms or concepts (e.g., mimesis); provide a brief summary, including historical background, of the works you have selected and then an explanation of how each included text fits within this theme; conclude with why students should be interested in reading this anthology and what you hope they will learn from it. I expect the final product would be about 10 pages double-spaced: 1-2 pages of setting up your chosen theme, 2 pages for each entry, and 1-2 pages on the larger stakes for this anthology, i.e., why readers should care about these matters. Remember, all written work, whether #1 or #2, should be/have typed proofread, including proper formatting for quotations titled page-numbered These are the book which you might need to use: 1. augustine confessions. Present the strengths and/or weaknesses of a particular intergovernmental organization (IGO), such as the United Nations, the World Bank, or NATO.

In addressing this topic, consider the motivations for entities to join into collective organizations: a common problem, collective access to goods, etc. You’ll also want to discuss bargaining within the IGO, rules and dispute resolution, information gathering, etc. What international laws (including customs, treaties, and authoritative bodies) affectthe IGOs, and how are the laws enforced? What is the incentive for the IGO member to follow the laws? Some of the advantages you may discuss are the IGO’s authority and permanence as well as the access to forums for discussion and information. IGOs can also be an alternative way to act collectively for the state, they can limit the power of the state, and they can provide an avenue for individual leadership. If you delve into the disadvantages, you may consider the limitations of membership, complexity andconflicts due to overlapping with other IGOs, and voting discrepancies due to power of the member in the IGO. Is it fair for certain entities to be excluded from IGOs? Can the IGO overextend its boundaries?2.Analyze an international issue through a particular theoretical perspective, for example, through a realist, liberal, or radical interpretation.Your particular theory will play a big part of how you perceive and react to international relations; for example, you may question whether change is possibleor even desirable. If you choose to discuss the issue through the realism approach, you want to discuss the roleof the individual as a selfish, power-seeking entity functioning within a state that acts as one voice, and how they seek to fulfill national interest. A liberalist perspective should stick to the premise that people are basically good and moral, and that we develop institutions to bring out the best in people in order to deal with society’s problems. You may also analyze the issue through a mixture of different theoretical perspectives.3.Is globalization a positive phenomenon? If yes, why do we see so many protests against it?Use at least two theoretical perspectives to explain globalization.

The essay is to be 5 pages in length (not including the title page or the works cited pages). It should be type-written, double spaced, with one inch margins and 12 point font. It should include in-text citation (unless otherwise cleared with the professor, following the MLA style). You need at least 6 sources. As a rule you will benefit from following a standard short research paper template something in the order of what follows: 1) Thesis statement (for a short paper like this, 1 paragraph)2) Body of the paper where you flesh out the ideas, perhaps broken into a couple main sections (which can be titled)3) Summary (1 paragraph at the end repeating the main points of the paper) For this assignment, you must clear the topic with your professor.
