The issues arising when translating Arabic texts, in a general sense, are already well known, including the challenges arising from culture-specific items (e.g. Aixela 1996; Davies 2003). Much of this literature also proposes possible solutions to the issues which arise. What will your study add to our understanding of these issues? Conceptualising translation in terms of literal vs free is a rather antiquated approach which is rarely seen in contemporary translation theory. Can you explain why you have you adopted this approach? The focus is currently very broad in terms of the text types in which you are interested. I am a little confused about your methodology do you wish to set a number of translation students a translation task and then ask them to fill out a questionnaire about their experience? If so, what information will the questionnaire be used to collect? How many participants do you hope to recruit? How will the source texts for the translation exercise be chosen?
