How does the ancient world inform the way that we should think about modern issues of race and ethnicity?

Imagine that you are approached by The New Yorker, The New Criterion, The Atlantic, or a similar literary/cultural magazine to write a short (1500 to 2000-word) article aimed a general audience who doesnt know all that much about the ancient world. The subject of your articles is the topic of our class: how does the ancient world inform the way that we should think about modern issues of race and ethnicity? Within that general rubric, you can pick any topic that you are interested in. If youre not sure if its an appropriate topic, please ask me. An example of a good topic might be to ask how appropriate (or not) it is to cast black actors to play ancient Greek heroes in a modern cinematic adaptation of Greek literature, using what youve learned in class. The articles by Sarah Bond are a good model: historically informed, but oriented towards modern debates. These short papers are not research papers, but you might want to do some additional reading, depending on the topic; feel free to cite any sources that you found useful, and you can also cite relevant sources from class reading (of course if material from other classes youve taken is also relevant, feel free to bring that in too). **Kindly need 1500+ words as instructed above in the instructions.

Describe the major features of the morphology or the language as you did in the introduction to Kujamaat Jola. Use the KJ chapter endings as a guide to some of the topics you might discuss about your language, like gender systems, verb conjugation, etc.

Research a language you dont know. For the purposes of this class, we will avoid the most common languages like Spanish, French and Chinese. Find one that has morphological processes you can analyze. Briefly discuss the languages history and culture and its current demographics (NO WIKIPEDIA and no cutting and pasting of charts). 2. Discuss the word formation processes you find interesting (no more than one or two). Thoroughly discussing one or two features of the morphology of your language is better than a mixed bag of too many to describe and analyze properly. 3. If you use a data collection from a source, make sure to cite it. Cite everything! 4. Use two to three outside reputable sources (journal articles, books) to support your assertions. The above section is to be 3 pages minimum, with a final page for reflection: 1 + 3 + 1 = 5 pages, min.,
