Research Designs Validity in research refers to the extent researchers can be confident that the cause and effect they identify in their research are in fact causal relationships. If there is low validity in a study, it usually means that the research design is flawed and the results will be of little or no value. Four different aspects of validity should be considered when reviewing a research design: statistical conclusion validity, internal validity, construct validity, and external validity. In this Discussion, you consider the importance of each of these aspects in judging the validity of quantitative research. To prepare: Review the information in Chapter 10 of the course text on rigor and validity. Read the method section of one of the following quasi-experimental studies (also located in this weeks Learning Resources). Identify at least one potential concern that could be raised about the studys internal validity. Metheny, N. A., Davis-Jackson, J., & Stewart, B. J. (2010). Effectiveness of an aspiration risk-reduction protocol. Nursing Research, 59(1), 1825. Padula, C. A., Hughes, C., & Baumhover, L. (2009). Impact of a nurse-driven mobility protocol on functional decline in hospitalized older adults. Journal of Nursing Care Quality, 24(4), 325331. Yuan, S., Chou, M., Hwu, L., Chang, Y., Hsu, W., & Kuo, H. (2009). An intervention program to promote health-related physical fitness in nurses. Journal of Clinical Nursing, 18(10), 1,4041,411. Consider strategies that could be used to strengthen the studys internal validity and how this would impact the three other types of validity. Think about the consequences of an advanced practice nurse neglecting to consider the validity of a research study when reviewing the research for potential use in developing an evidence-based practice. By Day 3 Post the title of the study that you selected and your analysis of the potential concerns that could be raised about the studys internal validity. Propose recommendations to strengthen the internal validity and assess the effect your changes could have with regard to the other three types of validity. Discuss the dangers of failing to consider the validity of a research study.

Does your reply indicate understanding of the co-learners posting? Does it expand on his/her discussion? Is it respectful of his/her views? Was it submitted on time?

Create a Discussion Board thread in which you explain the notion of ideology expressed in the lecture by discussing something you think is constructed but we understand to be natural; respond in detail to at least two other students’ posts. You will be graded on two criteria: 1. Original Post: Does your post demonstrate a clear understanding of the concept of “ideology” as it is explained in the lecture? Is your example well-explained and appropriate? Is it original? Was it submitted on time in order to give others a chance to respond? 2. Reply: Does your reply indicate understanding of the co-learners posting? Does it expand on his/her discussion? Is it respectful of his/her views? Was it submitted on time?

Write an ethical analysis of the case, focusing on the issue you choose by considering any relevant facts, ethical values and principles as well as the consequences of the different possible resolutions to the ethical issue that you have identified.

1. Choose a case depicting a morally problematic situation in professional practice: a. You may choose a ready-made case from our course materials or from somewhere else, such as from another book or one you find online. If you choose a case from this course, simply indicate the case you are using and provide a citation. If your case is from another source, reproduce the case with your assignment and provide a proper citation. If the case used is one already accompanied by analysis, then the analysis provided in the assignment must be differently focused or otherwise go beyond the discussion already given. b. Alternatively, you may develop your own case. You may create a case that is totally fictional or one that is based on your own experience or the experience of someone you know or know of. If you choose a case that is in the news, but you author the case itself by writing and presenting the case description, then this will count as a case that you have created. Note: if you use a case based on real life but one that is not public knowledge, then you must follow the Ethical Guidelines for Case Studies in the Course Manual. 2. Choose and clearly articulate a professional ethics issue that pertains to your chosen case and the professional(s) involved in the case specifically. The issue should be important and reasonably controversial.[2] 3. Write an ethical analysis of the case, focusing on the issue you choose by considering any relevant facts, ethical values and principles as well as the consequences of the different possible resolutions to the ethical issue that you have identified. You may use the ethical theories in your analysis if applicable but this is not necessary. Your goal is to provide an analysis that would defend a resolution that is the most satisfactory from a moral perspective. The strategy is to discuss, evaluate and compare the pros and cons of each different possible resolution by examining considerations that have bearing on determining which resolution is best from an ethical point of view. This assignment is different from Assignment 4, the critical essay, insofar as your discussion will be limited to the specific details and individuals in the case. This is your opportunity to apply what you have learned to a concrete real life situation. Applying philosophical analysis to a real life situation will also help to prepare you to discuss more general topics in professional ethics and engage in more abstract philosophical reasoning for Assignment 4, the critical essay.

Train the trainers (you are the instructional designer; someone in the field will be the trainer). Briefly discuss the objectives, activities, media and assessments needed. Discuss these aspects as your Section 4.

FYI: This is part three of four… As you complete the four assignments in this class, you are preparing, section by section, one large project. You will practice what you have learned by planning a training program following the ADDIE model. Having the prior sections all in one paper will show how the phases build upon each other and will also make the paper easier to write and review. Only the section due for a specific week will be graded in that week, since the prior sections were graded previously in their respective drop-boxes. The training topic identified in the first paper will be carried through the five ADDIE steps. (The ADDIE steps are explained in the Gardner videos presented on each of the modules’ Background pages).Assignment Overview: The assignment spans four-module submissions. Again, this is the third phase of the overall assignment. The previous submission that will be added to this finished paper have been attached as a separate file. It includes the previous graded assignments. *** Section 3Implementation ***Assignment: Continue with the training topic you chose in Assignment 1. DO NOT CHANGE TOPICS. Go through, step by step, the Implementation phase of the ADDIE model, covering everything in detail as it pertains to your training topic. Be as specific as possible. If there is unknown information, make logical assumptions for the information needed and include a section in your paper showing the assumptions you made. Bring in at least one source found outside of your course materials to help build your paper (be sure to cite sources).Phase: Implementation
a. Train the trainers (you are the instructional designer; someone in the field will be the trainer). Briefly discuss the objectives, activities, media and assessments needed. Discuss these aspects as your Section 4. ALSO—
b. Provide a sample from your training course, prepared to show the trainers what you expect. For example, if the ultimate learners are to learn how to clean a bathroom, then cover that content in the paper.Once you have completed the two components needed, submit both your paper.
