This paper is about engaging with primary sources and discussing what they have to say about a given topic. You will need to draw from at least one primary source we have already encountered in our weekly readings, but you MUST include an additional primary source from the digital collections that I have provided below.

Your goal is not to create a narrative or historical overview of the topic, but to address what these primary sources can tell us about the topic you have chosen and this will be the foundation for your thesis. Avoid composing a series of summaries of primary sources, and instead focus on the ideas and commentaries of the specific sources you choose. You should refrain from inserting your own judgments or commentaries upon the ideas contained within these sources, whether you agree or disagree with them. Instead, you should consider where your primary sources agree and disagree, support or contradict one another.
