How does figurative language interact with the rhetorical triangle to create meaning?

What does this tell us about where meaning resides: in the text, the reader, or some combination thereof?
Your thesis must take a stance relative to this question. For this essay, you will perform a rhetorical analysis on four texts: three poems chosen by you and the play Macbeth. In this unit we will look at how figurative language interacts with the rhetoric of a text and what effect that interaction has on the reader. You will need to perform close line readings of the poems and the play in order to prove your thesis.

analyze the movie Wall Street and search for ways an employee can increase his personal power in the workplace without compromising his integrity or taking advantage of other co-workers as reflected in our text.

We will provide examples from the movie that clearly indicate the difference between the negative and positive dynamics that are played out in the workplace when an employee is trying to get ahead.
We find this aspect of political savvy interesting. We have often been in work environments where it appeared that there were employees who went out of their way (sociopaths) to impress leadership to get ahead. They were often successful even when their actions were detrimental to co-workers or the company. Those individuals often suffered dire consequences for their actions when management determined that their actions were often dishonest or detrimental to the company.
Our plan is to analyze this movie to determine how this behavior manifests itself and what can be done to move ahead in an organization without resorting to dishonest activities that ultimately end in failure.
Assignment 6: Movie or Book Presentation (250 points)

Based on your Assignment 1 paper, you will present your movie or book analysis to the class. The purpose of this presentation is for you to share what you uncovered from analyzing the movie or book on the concept of political savvy, as well as highlight what others can learn from your investigation and analysis.

As such, provide us with a brief overview of the roles of the characters in the movie or book and identify the specific political savvy dilemmas that you identified. How did you connect the course textbook with the movie or book you reviewed? How did the characters engage (or not engage) in political savvy concepts? Do you think the movie characters chosen approaches to the political dilemmas were effective? Do you think authors suggestions were framed effectively for navigating politically charged scenarios? From your perspective, is the movie or book you reviewed one that other students should consider watching or reading to enhance their understanding of political savvy in the workplace? Why or why not? In what ways does the content of this movie or book agree with/disagree with/inform your experiences with political savvy behaviors in the workplace? Remember: This is not intended to be a casual movie or book review it should focus on how you synthesize the information from the course textbook to the movie or book under review.

Your final presentation should be well-organized and thorough. Make sure to include adequate time for questions and answers and/or audience interaction, as well as include a handout or visual-aid (e.g., PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) to reinforce the concepts you highlight. Your presentation should be 12-18 minutes in length. The movie is played by Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen (The wall Street) 1987 if you have any questions let me know. Thank you.

Henri Fayol’s or Henry Mintzberg’s theory?

Management & Organisations Write an essay of approximately 2000 words on the following: Henri Fayol (1949) presented his analysis of the management function in 1916 and it has largely been superseded by the more descriptive approaches of what managers actually do, such as that favoured by Henry Mintzberg (1975). When writing your essay, you may wish to consider the following: The different perspectives on management taken by Fayol and Mintzberg; The different approaches to the study of management taken by Fayol and Mintzberg; Issues of effective management; Issues of theory versus practice Supporting evidence for the different perspectives in theory and practice Your essay should be analytical and discursive, not simply a description and comparison of Fayols and Mintzbergs work; Be wary of internet sources anyone can put anything on the internet so it doesnt mean it is right; such sources, especially student essays, often have serious flaws! Assessment Essays will be assessed on the following basis: The argument you make and its coherence and validity; The appreciation you demonstrate of your understanding of different views and perspectives and the strengths and limitations of their arguments; The material presented to support your argument and evidence of understanding this material; The presentation of your essay, particularly in your writing and use of referencing.
