A regional bank has decided to open an office overseas for serving those businesses that are expanding internationally. Choose a country with a large financial center that you believe would be helpful to your customer base.

You will be analyzing a comprehensive case study from the text: IKEA. You will submit written documentation of your analysis and recommendations.

Comprehensive Case Analysis Guide

• Central Issue

Describe the central marketing issue(s)/problem(s) in 3 to 4 sentences.  Also, discuss decision criteria and/or constraints for the analysis and decision making process.

• Opportunity/Environmental Analysis

Prepare a table that lists the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats confronting the organization.  Critically present the relative importance of internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats to organizational success and goal fulfillment.

• Alternative Solutions/Strategies

Prepare a detailed description of at least 3 comprehensive and unique alternative solutions/actions for each marketing issue/problem identified for the case.  Discussion of each alternative should not only include a description and the primary advantages and disadvantages of the proposed solution but also should include clear linkages to established marketing concepts and practices.  All elements of marketing strategy should be addressed: target market, product, pricing, promotion and distribution.

• Recommended Solution(s)/Strategy(ies)

Identify and then justify the alternative solution/strategy recommended for each marketing issue/problem.  Justification should include relevancy to key internal and external factors as well as to organizational mission, goals and objectives.

• Implementation & Evaluation

Discuss how the recommended strategy/solution(s) should be implemented by the organization, including timing, involvement of key stakeholders, and responsibilities of the marketing manager.  Discuss how management will evaluate whether the recommended strategy/solution(s), once implemented, is(are) achieving the desired result(s).  Also, present any likely or anticipated effects on leadership, existing policies or practices, organization culture, organization structure and employee behavior.  Prepare a detailed time-line for implementation.  Assign responsibility for each task.  Include evaluative criteria and/or instruments for assessing the degree to which the implemented strategies/solutions are achieving the desired results.

• Each section of the written documentation should be clearly labeled. 
• The analysis should be typed, double-spaced using a Times New Roman 12 pt. font.

Assignment 5: Employee Compensation and Benefits

This assignment consists of two (2) sections: a narrative and a PowerPoint presentation. You must submit two (2) sections for the completion of this assignment. Label each file name according to the section of the assignment it is written for.

Imagine that you have just been hired by a new company as the director of the HR department. You have been tasked to hire a new secretary for the department and to develop an employee compensation and benefits package that will be used for that position upon hire. Develop a PowerPoint presentation to present this information to your Vice President. Go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) Website, located at www.bls.gov, for information regarding organizations and pay in your geographical area.

4. Provide an overview of the employee compensation and benefits package that you developed in the narrative portion of this assignment.

5. Determine if the employee will be exempt or nonexempt and discuss how overtime will be handled.

6. Suggest other benefits that might be considered within the next few months to enhance employee performance and provide job motivation.

7. Provide information on how government regulations will influence the compensation.

8. Examine data from two (2) organizations listed in the BLS Website with packages similar to yours, focusing on salary, compensation, and benefits in order to convince upper management that your package should be accepted and implemented.

9. Describe how the competitive compensation and benefits package will align with the HRM strategy.

To prepare:

• Review the Meyer article, “Nursing Services Delivery Theory: An Open System Approach,” in this week’s Learning Resources. Focus especially on the information presented in Table 1 (p. 2831) and Figure 2 (p. 2833).
• Reflect on your organization or one with which you are familiar. Within a particular department or unit in this organization, identify a problem the staff is encountering.
• Using Table 1 in the Meyer article as a guide, analyze the department or unit, identifying inputs, throughput, output, cycles of events, and negative feedback. Consider whether the problem you have selected relates to input, throughput, output, cycles of events, and/or negative feedback.
• Think about how you could address the problem: Consider what a desired outcome would be, then formulate related goals and objectives, and translate those goals into policies and procedures.
• Research professional standards that are pertinent to your identified problem.
• Reflect on the organization’s mission statement and values. In addition, consider how addressing this problem would uphold the mission and values, while improving the organizational culture and climate. (Depending on the organization you have selected, you may have explored these in the Week 1 Discussion.)

To complete:

Write a 3- to 5-page paper (page count does not include title and reference page) that addresses the following:

• Describe a department or unit within a health care organization using systems theory terminology. Include a description of inputs, throughput, output, cycles of events, and negative feedback.
• Describe the problem you identified within the department or unit using an open- systems approach, and state where the problem exists using the systems theory model (input, throughput, output, cycles of events, or negative feedback).
• Based on this information, explain how you would address the problem as follows:
  • Formulate a desired outcome.
  • Identify goals and objectives that would facilitate that outcome.
  • Translate those goals and objectives into policies and procedures for the department or unit.
  • Describe relevant professional standards.
• Explain how your proposed resolution to the problem would uphold the organization’s mission and values and improve the culture and climate.

From that specific field, select one of the pertinent issues that have been and are being researched currently. For this assignment, you need to write an 8-10 page literature review paper on the issue that you have chosen.

The paper needs to include the following components:

Introduction:     Briefly explain what the paper entails and your basic paper thesis. (10 points)

Description of Issue:     Briefly describe the issue that you have researched and the field of Applied Psychology from which the issue is situated.  Be sure to explain how the issue comes out of Applied Psychology. [This is the– what is the issue section] (15 points)

Review of Empirical Literature:  Explain what your research has shown you on the topic.  This would mean explain what variables have been studied and how the studies’ results have explained your topic.  If the topic is controversial or has mixed results, explain the controversy and the support or lack of support for the sides of the issue. [This is the heart of your paper which explains the information you have gained on this topic] (30 points)

Conclusion:  Briefly conclude your paper by drawing together all the issues and coming to a conclusion on what you have learned and if there is a position you feel the research supports. [This is the section of your paper that pulls everything together] (10 points

In this assignment, you will evaluate the research methodologies used in a particular study to apply the knowledge you have gained in the course. This will be your opportunity to explore a research study in depth and gain a stronger understanding of both conducting the research and also reporting the outcome of that research.

Then, in a 5- to 6-page paper:

• Evaluate the research methodologies used. In your evaluation, make sure that you:
  • Examine the theoretical framework used in the study and assess its appropriateness for the selected research question.
  • Evaluate the way in which the literature review portion of the article informed and supported the research.
  • Analyze the instruments used in data collection and discuss how they were an appropriate selection to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Evaluate the results and conclusions drawn and discuss the extent to which they supported the research question.
  • Evaluate the ethical considerations that the researchers kept in mind regarding multicultural diversity in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

RA 1 is worth 200 points and will be graded according to the following rubric.
