Does consumption of high levels of caffeine affect late teens and early adults cortisol (stress) levels?

This research proposal must be quantitative, it will be controlled in a lab setting where groups of individuals from late teens and early adulthood individuals (ages 18 to 25) {I had to change the age group due to the control condition where their levels of cortisol are tested (saliva tests) as well as the consumption of several types of caffeinated beverages are administred; to do it with minors would be unethical}; two groups of individuals are going to be tested:
Group 1: High Caffeine Content (400mg daily);
Group 2: Low Caffeine Content (less than 300mg daily);
Known Points: Cortisol Causes stress; Caffeine Increases Cortisol Levels
Issues: In late teenage and early adulthood the brain still developing
Stress levels high at base level
Many drinks today contain high caffeine levels (sodas, energy drinks, coffee drinks)
Possible questions:
Does consumption of high levels of caffeine affect late teens and early adults cortisol (stress) levels?
Hypothesis: Yes
Variables: High Caffeine Consumption individuals; Low Caffeine Consumption individuals;
Measurements: Cortisol Levels (saliva tests)
This question is important because stress is especially damaging at this age. It can trigger all sorst of genetic predispositions for developing mental illnesses.

Please write a project paper of 1–2 pages, and choose 1 group that has immigrated to the United States:

Immigration is endemic to the development of the United States. Throughout its history, multiple ethnic groups immigrated to the United States, thus affecting various elements of American life. Though immigration is usually a voluntary event, groups were moved against their will at certain points in history. This assignment will limit the project document to immigration from 3 specific regions of the world to make this assignment more manageable for students and facilitators.

Please write a project paper of 1–2 pages, and choose 1 group from the following list that has immigrated to the United States:

identify the inputs, processing, and outputs of Myra’s selected business process.

Overview of Business Process Analysis and Functional Requirements for UMUC Haircuts
For your Case Study Stage 1 assignment, you performed a Five Forces Analysis and justified Myra’s chosen strategy for competitive advantage and the business process that she would like to improve through the application of technology.
In the Stage 2 assignment, you will identify the inputs, processing, and outputs of Myra’s selected business process. Those inputs, processing, and outputs form the functional (business) requirements for an IT system to improve the process.
The first step in identifying the functional or business requirements for an information system is to develop the high level requirements that establish the scope of the system. Myra has selected the Customer and Employee Scheduling Process for improvement using an IT solution, and together you have identified the following high level requirements. The system must:
• Allow employees to enter their availability and desired days/times to work
• Allow Myra to review the employee requests and develop a schedule
• Make the schedule available to employees to review their final work schedule
• Make the employee schedule available for staff to enter customer appointments
• Allow Myra and the staff to enter customer appointments
• Keep track of customer appointments, including stylist and service performed
• Accommodate changes in the employee schedules and customer appointments, and update the schedule accordingly
• Accommodate changes in the customer information stored in the system
• Provide management reports to Myra showing employee workload, customers served, customer contact information, busy times/days, etc.
For this assignment, you will focus on the customer appointment portion of the overall process. The high level requirements are not detailed enough to be used as the functional or business requirements. More detailed requirements are developed using a variety of tools and methods. One such tool is a process model. The process model shows the steps in the customer appointment process. In a process model, rectangles are used to illustrate process steps and diamonds are used where decisions, or choices, are made. You need to be aware that there are other aspects of the process to be considered, as shown in the high level requirements above. The points at which these additional steps intersect with the customer appointment process are shown in the process model with a circle.

Customer Appointment Process Model: The Customer Appointment Process model is separately provided as an Excel file, labeled “Stage 2 Customer Appointment Process Model.”
Assignment: UMUC Haircuts Stage 2: Using the Customer Appointment Process Model, create a document that includes:
I. Introduction
At the top of your paper, show the strategy for competitive advantage that Myra selected and the business process she has chosen to improve, using the following format:
Generic Strategy for Competitive Advantage: xxxxxxx (just name the strategy)
Business Process to Be Improved: xxxxxxxxx (just name the process)
II. Table of Functional (Business) Requirements
Copy the table below into your paper. Using the Customer Appointment Process Model provided complete the table of requirements for an IT system, for each of the numbered process steps, that includes:
• the inputs to the process – include specific items of information or data elements (for example, customer name) entered into the system as part of the process step
• processing or actions that the system takes (for example, check calendar to let person know if UMUC Haircuts is open at the specified time)
• outputs of the process – include specific items of information or data elements (for example, appointment date) that the system will display or print out for the user to see
There are 7 numbered steps in the Appointment Process itself. In addition, there are two other processes that are needed (numbered 8 and 9), but are beyond the scope of the appointment process: a process for entering the time needed and costs for the various styling services; and the payment process that collects customer payments and updates the database accordingly. For these two processes, you should also identify the input needed for the system, what the system is to do with that input (process) and what output the system will need to create or display either immediately or later.
The responses that you enter into the table for each requirement must be aligned to the specific business process to be improved and the data it uses, and it must be appropriate to the UMUC Haircuts business.
Note: Processes are actions that the system will take and should include action verbs. Inputs and outputs are not actions, but are data or information. If you need to use action words (verbs) to describe the input or output, they should be kept to a minimum and put in parentheses.

Formatting:
For academic writing, the writer is expected to write in the third person. In third person, the writer avoids the pronouns I, we, my, and our. The third person is used to make the writing more objective by taking the individual, the “self,” out of the writing. This method is very helpful for academic writing, a form in which facts, not opinion, drive the tone of the text. Writing in the third person allows the writer to come across as unbiased and thus more informed.

• Submit a document that includes the Table of Functional Requirements.
• Table entries should be single spaced.
• Use APA formatted citations and references for any external sources used.
• Include a title page, and a reference page if references are included.
• Compare your final work to the rubric to be sure you have met content and quality criteria.
• Submit your paper as a Word document, or a document that can be read in Word.

Describe your initial strength.
The strength finder reflection is one of the best assessment tool that I have ever used to describe my personalized strengths insight that narrated my character and my personal relationship with others. I was very excited and amazed when I reviewed the results of the assessment. The results has strength insight and action- planning guide which consists of five top themes including positivity; Woo; strategies; Safe assurance and developer (Rath, 2007).
The positivity exactly sounds real and describes my individual personality. I was so thrilled when I read that I’m very fond of and devoted to the people in my life and I feel warmth and affection in accomplishing someone’s task. According to the assessment, my talent always mix and match people’s unique style of working, problem solving, thinking and building relationships (Rath, 2007). I also help people to develop their own talents, skills and knowledge that benefits others in the place of work. In fact, this assessment totally describes what people think about me. I was so concerned on how this assessment has about 95% of my character, especially ideas for actions for positivity that says people rely on me to help them rise above their daily frustrations and I get my greatest joy by encouraging people. It also stated that I will excel in any role such as teaching role, leadership role and entrepreneurial role.

This graduate student was not surprised by the strengths identified by Clifton’s StrengthsFinder 2.0. In fact, the strengths identified are viewed as very accurate. All five (5) strengths provided detailed explanations that fit this student’s leadership style in the work environment. After reading the generated report, not one detail made this student question it’s accuracy. In no way will the validity of this assessment be questioned. Let’s briefly explore each section of the assessment. As a relator, this student feels it is important to establish rapport with other team members. Relating to an individual’s weaknesses and talents helps to build understanding and trust in order to attain cohesiveness in goal-setting. This often translated into excelling as a preceptor and mentor. Secondly, the analytical theme surmises how almost everything is approached professionally. After pondering a problem or a mistake, it is best to gather accurate data, facts, and evidence that contributed to the mistake or problem. The goal is to change the approach to the problem and/or mistake to accomplish a favorable outcome. This student is determined to gain insights from past mistakes so they are not repeated (StrengthFinder 2.0, 2015). Furthermore, the belief theme explains the importance of putting others before yourself. Nursing offers one the unique task of serving to meet other’s needs. That belief stems from a foundational truth and task that only God can direct. Putting those in need before yourself is for the greater good of humanity according to God’s plan and design. As a developer, encouraging others to succeed without compromising who they are is extremely important. Showing encouragement and appreciation for others accomplishments fosters comradery to the whole team. Every individual should be valued for anything they may contribute whether great or small. Lastly, it is pivotal to connect to others to achieve lasting success. No matter an individual’s life circumstance, we are all searching for purpose in this life and/or the next. Although there are barriers that make us different, team members have to find commonalities when opportunities present themselves. These commonalities will help to break down barriers and strive for the value and meaning of working together closely as a team.

Identification of My Individual Strengths
Using Rath’s guide, StrengthsFinder 2.0 (2007) identified my top five strengths as achiever, focus, futuristic, learner, and harmony. As an achiever, I am a driven individual with the ability to work hard for long hours without having to stop. This drive comes mostly for my appreciation of the product of my work and my enjoyment of tasks and activities that occupy my time in a constructive manner. My second key strength, focus, complements my first one. With focus, I am able to plot a plan of progress and pursue it until the end. This comes mostly from my ability to prioritize my needs and activities to make any changes that I need to so that I remain on target (Rath, 2007). My futuristic strength means that I tend to focus on the potential outcomes of my work. This gives me great positivity in my work and enables me to inspire the people around me with my ability to look focus on the future. Being a learner is one of my most important individual strengths. Rath (2007) identifies learners as individuals who are eager to acquire new knowledge and skills and uses them to improve themselves. I enjoy the process of learning and this makes it easier for me to endeavor through the process of discovering new abilities. Lastly, harmony is another of my individual strengths. Individuals with a strong sense of harmony seek tranquility and agreement in their lives. This means that they dislike conflict and constantly seek new ways of getting along with others. This strength is a great asset when undertaking group projects or other activities that require cooperation.
Analysis of My Individual Strengths
If applied effectively within my activities, my individual strengths help me to succeed in personal and group projects. According to Disch (2012), group members work interdependently and this requires the application of various individual and group strengths. One important aspect of group structures and organizations is execution. Ideally, groups should have a structure that enables them to execute their objectives in an effective way (Kelly, 2012). Looking at my strengths, the attributes of focus and being an achiever give me the drive needed to work towards executing my goals and missions. These attributes are crucial for my success and beneficial to any groups that I am a part of. The attributes of focus and being futuristic make a person capable of influencing others due to the result-oriented nature of the strengths. This is useful in a group setting, as the individual would be able to take up a leadership role. The two attributes are also important for strategic thinking. Strategic thinking is important for the success of any projects because it enables a person or group to plan effectively for the completion of a task (Crowell, 2011). This would be useful in any personal or group projects that I was involved in. Lastly, the attribute of harmony is essential in any situation where an individual needs to work with other people. Relationship building is important in all professional settings. In nursing, the need to work with other health care professionals makes relationship building critical.
Implications of My Individual Strengths on the Group Project
My individual skills will be very useful when it comes to the completion of our group project. The success of group activities relies on the existence of factors such as cooperation, leadership, and focus within the group. Though I cannot account for other group member’s strengths, my own attributes enables it become successful. Being an achiever and having focus can help me give the group purpose, drive, and direction. This would increase the chances of our success. Being futuristic and focused is also very useful to the group because I contribute to its strategic thinking. This ensures that we plan effectively for our project. Lastly, the strength of harmony will aid my relationship building abilities and aid in fostering cooperation within the group. This teamwork brings out the best qualities of all members and guarantees success.

T
Identification of Individual Strengths
My individual strengths according to Rath’s Strengths Finder assessment are input, learner, arranger, relator and intellection. Input as a strength means that I enjoy collecting things whether it is tangible objects or just facts. It is important to me to always be increasing my knowledge by collecting information. I personally am not a collector of objects but I collect information all the time. Whether it is work related or just of interest to me I love data and facts. As a learner I enjoy a variety of subjects and love mastering new skills. The process of learning and then implementing what I have learned is exciting to me. Arranger means that I love to put all the pieces in place. I like to be in control of a situation from start to finish. One area at work that allows me to do this is in the Quality Improvement process. QI requires dedication, persistence and a constant arranging and rearranging of data and processes. When I first did the assessment the one strength that I felt fit me the least was relator. As I read more about the traits of a relator I realized I have many of these. A relator prefers to be with close friends more than making new ones. I am not a person that seeks out new friends but if a friendship happens I am okay with this. I work well with others and I try to be understanding and compassionate when needed. I think this is a strength that makes me a good team player at work. Intellection is the strength that creates my desire to be learning all the time. This does not necessarily mean reading but staying active mentally. I do enjoy the time I spend alone, which allows me the time to reflect or play out ideas and situations that require my attention. I tend to work a situation out mentally prior to initiating a conversation or putting a plan into place.

Implications and Analysis of My Individual Strengths on the Group Project
My individual strengths will have a positive impact on our group project. I love to learn and collect data and facts. This will be valuable as I conduct the literature search for information to share with my group regarding our topic. The strength of intellect could be a hindrance for the group. I like to study and think things over before I act upon them. There are times when I realize that through my introspective process I have neglected to share information or insight with the team.
