This is because the process of producing this type of assessment enables you to independently: – Identify your own area of interest. – Explore an area in depth. – Define your own question. – Experience the process of producing knowledge. – Manage a project from beginning to end. – Consolidate your communication, information-seeking and intellectual skills. The purpose of a dissertation is to primarily demonstrate your academic ability, but also to collect, manipulate and interrogate information, and express this as part of a formal written report. These are also useful skills in employment. Whilst a dissertation is not a formal end assessment for your current programme of study, these skills are still valuable to develop and therefore this assignment provides you an opportunity to do so. The starting point of any dissertation is always the formation of a feasible and fitting research proposal and this is what is required of you in this assignment. Prior to forming a proposal, you will need to consider an appropriate research topic, within a field which presents an interesting and contemporary aspect of international business, use the topic of (Two sided markets or sharing economy) to help you with the research as in the following: With growth in services such as Uber, eBay etc., the study of two-sided markets is increasingly becoming popular. A two-sided market is a platform that provides users on both sides benefits by interacting through the platform Once you have selected your chosen field and topic, you will be required to produce a research proposal for submission via the tasks in the assignment remit. Select an appropriate research question and research objectives for the proposal, within your selected topic area. 2. Outline a clear, feasible and justified methodology for the project, including the following: a. Provide a brief outline of the type of philosophical perspective for the research b. Discuss, with justification, whether you think that a qualitative, quantitative or mixed method would be most suited to the proposed research project. c. Propose a primary or secondary research design. d. Highlight the specific methods of data collection appropriate to the proposed design, including sampling. e. Identify the intended models of data analysis. (1500 Words) 4. Produce a Gantt chart to provide an appropriate order for carrying out the research tasks. Assume a 6 month project lifespan. Briefly discuss this chart, explaining key milestones, anticipating any potential challenges that may arise and a strategy for overcoming them. (450 Words) 5. Consult with your tutor if you are uncertain about any aspect of the assignment. Submission requirements A single word-processed document containing all material pertaining to all tasks. The word count is 3000 words, not including the appendices.
