Task: Choose a country from Ms. Nelsons approved list. Research this country before writing a 2-4 page
paper that demonstrates your knowledge of unit 2 population/migration concepts.

Demographics Analysis (5 points)
Identify the total population, arithmetic density and physiological density of your country.
Explain what makes the physiological density of your country so high or low. Why is the
population so high/low? Explain the distribution of the people within the country. Are they
clustered in a specific area in the country?
Identify and explain the crude birth rates, crude death rates, average life expectancy, Natural
Increase Rate, expected doubling time (or time population will be cut in half), and total fertility
rate, Dont simply write these statistics. Be sure to explain them in detail and include an analysis
of these demographics. Thinkwhy are birth rates so high/low? What has caused a boom or
decline in population. Why is the total fertility rate so high or low? (Example: The total fertility
rate has remained high due to religious reasons).
Analyzing Growth (15 points)
Identify which stage of the Demographic Transition Model the country is in. Be sure to explain
how you know this (why.not just because I looked up the information online)
Either draw or insert a picture of a current population pyramid (from the last few years) and
either draw or insert a picture of a futuristic population pyramid (from 2050 or later). You can
usually find futuristic population pyramids online. If you cant, draw one that resembles what
