You will be supervised through the key stages of compiling a research report for a selected client: identification of a political problem; compilation of a relevant background report, identification of key actors, selecting potential approaches to and listing options for resolution of the problem, selecting and justifying a recommendation for resolution. Within this generic framework, you will be encouraged to select your own research topic, either for a notional client or for a practitioner organisation (e.g. a charity) of your choice. The skills training incorporated in this module will be particularly useful for students interested in policy-related work in governmental, non-governmental and private sector organisations.
