The Relationship of Learning Theory to Instructional Design

The Session Long Project (SLP) for MAE503 requires that you develop an instructional event or course for your chosen organization. As part of this process, you will align your instructional plan to an ID model of your choice. Your will submit your project in Word. An instruction plan is a document that describes the following: Student population (those individuals who will participate in the course) Learning needs assessment Learning objectives The type of instruction to be designed Instructional materials needed Performance-based outcomes Evaluation strategies to assess student learning Instructional plans may be similar to lesson plans (I.e., teaching K-12 students), or staff development plans (I.e., instructing adults). Instructional plans help to organize learning activities and material and ensure student performance. A simple Google search will yield several samples of instructional plans if you need more clarification. Upon completion of the overall Session Long Project, you will have all of the below components, but they will be submitted one module at a time, with the exception of the reference page, which will be updated and submitted with each module. Instructional and Assessment Materials (Module 3) Create and describe the instructional and assessment materials you will use as part of this plan. You should include a description and a few samples as appendices to your paper. Assignment for the Module 3 portion of the SLP: Complete your instructional plan, paying attention to the demands of your organization and your chosen ID Model Describe the general alignment of your plan to the ID Model This section should be 3-5 pages Include a reference page Please follow the APA format and style requirements, and include an APA-formatted reference list. MAED SLP Grading Rubric Assignment-Driven Criteria (10 points): Demonstrates mastery covering all key elements of the assignment in a substantive way. Critical Thinking (6 points): Demonstrates mastery conceptualizing the problem. Viewpoints and assumptions of experts are analyzed, synthesized, and evaluated. Conclusions are logically presented with appropriate rationale. Scholarly Writing (3 points): Demonstrates mastery and proficiency in scholarly written communication to an appropriately specialized audience. Quality of References and Assignment Organization (3 points): Demonstrates mastery using relevant and quality sources and uses appropriate, relevant, and compelling content to support ideas, convey understanding of the topic and shape the whole work. Citing Sources (3 points): Demonstrates mastery using in-text citations of sources and properly format full source information in the reference list (bibliography). Timeliness (5 points): Assignment submitted on time or collaborated with professor for an approved extension before the module due date.
