Identify the types of questions that you could ask the client to gain a better understanding of the scope of the project.The ability to ask questions effectively is one of the most important skills in business as is the ability to actively listen. Someone can ask a very broadly defined question and intentionally don’t try to offer specificity in what they mean by the question. It is designed to get the person they are questioning to reveal more than they would if your question directed them toward a more narrowly defined path (Suster, 2010). In order to get the project scope and ask the correct questions I would need to collect requirements by defining, documenting, and managing the client needs and requirements to meet the project objectives (Kloppenberg, 2015).The types of questions I would ask the client to gain a better understanding of the scope of the project are:What type of system are you currently using in the Human Resource Department?
How Long have the company been using the system?
What is the timeline for the completion of the project?
Have you researched the cost of a new system?
Do you have the support of the priority stakeholder for this move?
Have you performed a SWOT analysis?
Those are some of the questions that could be asked of the client to create a scope management plan as to how the project scope will be defined, validated, and controlled (Kloppenberg, 2015).Other than having the client answer my questions, other activities that I could engage in to gain a better understanding is the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). The work breakdown structure is a tool that project teams use to identify the deliverables. It is also use to progressively divide the deliverables of a project into smaller pieces (Kloppenberg, 2015).This essay must be a response to the information below
There are many reason for using the WBS, some of the reasons are it can be used as a pictorial representation of project deliverables, it is also use to remember all deliverable that needs to be created. With the WBS I can plan important functions such as schedules, resources, cost, quality, and risk of moving the new computerized human resource management system.
