1. Cover page with your name, title of your business plan, course information, and date submitted.
2. Executive Summary: a 1-2 page summary of the major points of your paper that provides an
overview of the entire report. This is written after you have written your report, although it appears
at the beginning of a paper.
3. Table of contents: include all section headers and list supporting appendices.
4. Introduction (Business ): Describe the business, products or services; outline the
organizations vision and mission statement; describe the type of industry your business will be in.

5. Industry profile and analysis. Describe the industry on a global, national, or local scale, as
appropriate. How will your business succeed in this particular setting?
6. Business strategy: Clearly state the business goals and your strategies for achieving them. Is this
business risky? What makes it so? How will you reduce the risks?
7. Markets and competition:
Location: What geographic market will your serve? Tell why you chose a particular location. Who
will you sell your products and services to? Provide a profile of your target customer.
Competitive Analysis: Who are your competitors? Detail the differences between their
products/services and yours. What are their strengths/weaknesses? What are yours?
8. Marketing strategy:
Target Market: Who are your potential customers? How will you tap into the current market?
Identify the market niche you intend to capture and how you plan to do that, outside of paid
advertising.
Promotion Strategy: How do you plan to advertise? Discuss the different methods you plan to use
and why. Explain your sales strategy (sales force, methods of distribution, etc).
9. Organization and management:

Who are the owners and managers? What relevant experience do they bring to the business? How
will owners and managers be compensated? Who will handle the bookkeeping and tax preparation?
What types of permits, licenses, etc will you need to manufacture/sell your product or operate your
business? What are the federal and state regulations that apply? What are the related costs, if any?
10. Financial data: The rest of your business plan should refer to and relate to the figures listed
throughout your financial data. Startup expenses, sources of capital, capital equipment and supply
lists, break-even analysis, include projected financial statements such as balance sheet,
Three Year of Projections: Sales, Cash Flow, Profit and Loss (Present as Financial Statements)
11. References: There should be 12-15 sources cited throughout the project paper and listed at the end
on the References page. Use APA writing format and in-text citations. 12. Appendices: These are supporting documents that would give more information to support or clarify
parts of your plan. Different appendices should be identified using a capital letter (e.g. Appendix A,
Appendix B, etc.) Each appendix should begin on a new page with the title at the top.
For example, include charts, brochures, other data collected, but including them in the body of the
paper would interrupt the flow. Appendices may include a paper copy of your presentation. When
including an appendix, it should be referred to within the body of your paper.
