A Primary Source Analysis is an essay that you will write in Word Processor about a primary source and turn in on the website http://www.turnitin.com. On blackboard, I will post a passcode and password for our class portal to this site, but you will need to go in and create your own account first to access the class portal (do not wait too long to log on if you have never used http://www.turnitin.com before). This assignment will be graded based on how well it is written, how well it accurately portrays the information it contains, how well it establishes the context of the historical material it discusses, and how well it demonstrates historical causality, significance, or effect/impact. Basically, you goal is to choose ONE (1) document and write an essay over it in no more than 1300 words, 12 point, 1 inch margins, Double Spaced, and Times New Roman font. There will be no header to your paper, and your name will be included at the end of the document. Failure to demonstrate the ability to follow these basic directions will result in a letter grade deduction. The document you use for this assignment can come from anywhere you find it as long as it relates to a topic we are covering in the course, but be prepared to write about where it came from and make sure that your source of information is legitimate (which itself can take a bit of research to figure out). The analysis you write of this document should answer the following questions in professional essay format without using first person references:
