What are your thoughts about using technology – personally and professionally? Was it a useful learning experience? Why?

mindshiftft – need to download this app on your phone to complete this work. This is a free app. Assessment 2 – Reflective Essay: Case Report Assessment task link to unit learning outcomes: 1. demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills of professional counselling practice. 2. examine research-based evidence and evaluate it according to quality indicators. 3. demonstrate an understanding of advanced intervention planning to address client needs. 4. extend familiarity with a variety of assessment instruments and tools and implement these in practice. 5. reflect on the legal, ethical and professional principles and practices relevant to counselling. Details of task: The aim of this assessment task is to write a Reflective Research Essay where you will critically discuss your personal experience and opinion of a form of digital technology (a mobile app) in light of broader literature, theories or subject materials, with the view to inform and support your counselling work with clients. A reflective essay is an essay in which the writer examines his or her experience/s. The writer then writes about those experiences, exploring how he or she has changed, developed or grown from those experiences. A Reflective Essay in this assessment includes a description of the digital technology (an app); providing an interpretation by writing a personal response that reflects your overall assessment of what happened; and an outcome where you will provide a summary and conclusions as well as a reflection of your reflection, that is, how you could use your reflections to further develop your professional counselling work currently or in the future. The reflective process forms the core of writing this type of essay, so its important that you think about your personal experience of using technology for your counselling work and how this may impact or change you. Use your thoughts and feelings of the experience to determine the implications for you on a personal level. Write down everything you can remember about it, describing it as clearly and fully as you can. Keep your five senses in mind as you do this, and be sure to use adjectives to describe your experience. When writing, you need to ensure that youre recording your responses, perceptions, and your experience of the technology. Following this you need to reflect which will help you think deeper about the impact and lasting effects of your experience. Here are some useful questions as examples, that you may like consider: What are your thoughts about using technology – personally and professionally? Was it a useful learning experience? Why? What specific skills or perspectives did you acquire as a result? What have you learned about yourself as a result of the experience? Have you developed because of it? How? Did it have any positive or negative bearing on you? Looking back, what would you have done differently? The context of technology is used to extend your understanding of research and develop and advance your practice as professional counsellors by: learning how to research and evaluate through critical review. gaining an overview of the importance of evidence based theory, main issues, arguments and research. reflecting on what has already been discovered. developing your analytical and reflective skills through engagement. gaining a deeper understanding of the impact of personal and cultural characteristics on the quality of technology reviews. reflecting on the ethical issues raised by using technology with clients. Read all of the information provided below, including the criteria for a better understanding of the task. Further detail may be provided online. Presentation requirements: Formatting and referencing according to APA 6th Edition. Essay needs to include an Introduction, Body and Conclusion. Additional information: The use of digital technology in mental health care including the use of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and wearable devices has rapidly increased over the past decade. Mobile phone applications (apps) are of particular interest to counsellors because they have additional benefits beyond accessing websites and text messaging that may make them a particularly valuable platform for dissemination of therapeutic interventions. One of the challenges confronting counsellors today is the overwhelming number of apps available; more than 150,000 healthcare apps are currently accessible, however, not all the apps are valuable nor reliable. In research relating to counselling, we find we have to continually evaluate the information. You did this with your annotated bibliographies. Similarly, your judgement of the information about the technology may also be based on the acceptability/credibility of the source of the publication as well as other factors. Before using technology with a client or recommending it, a counsellor should become thoroughly familiar with its features, purpose, theoretical base, privacy and security and functionality and decide whether employing the technology is likely to result in substantial improvement in a clinical issue that is important to the counsellor, or to the client (Scher, 2013). This is achieved thorough research and evaluation. Learning in this part of the unit will be centered on dissecting and critically reviewing and evaluating a set of mobile behavioural health and lifestyle apps. You will examine the purposes and methods of the apps, the theoretical assumptions behind them and will consider how to evaluate key aspects of the apps in terms of their use in counselling situations. Simultaneously you will study your own reactions to using technology and the reactions of your peers in order to experience directly how the personal characteristics of a client can affect the practical value of an app for that client. Don’t be limited by these questions; remember, asking yourself lots of questions is key to ensuring that you think deeply and critically about your experiences a skill that is at the heart of writing a great reflective essay. Consider using models of reflection before, during, and after the learning process to ensure that you maintain a high standard of analysis. Criteria for marking: 1. Presentation of a scholarly piece of reflective writing that conveys an understanding of the key concepts and theories relating to the evaluation of digital technology and includes a critical analysis of the literature. 2. Reflections which are supported by the research literature and demonstrate an understanding of the impact of personal and cultural characteristics on the quality of technology reviews. 3. Presentation of a scholarly piece of reflective writing that conveys an understanding and analysis of the ethical issues raised by using technology with clients. 4. Demonstrates insights through synthesis, evaluation and critical examination of the literature including the ability to reflect on implications for counsellors. 5. Workplace briefing is the term applied to the process of gathering key client/user information and requirements, which are then used to inform any of the following outcomes:
an overall property or estate strategy,
the design of a new building (including location, size, facilities etc.) or
a specific new workspace (perhaps as part of a refurbishment or implementation of new ways of working).
It is a recognised part of the formal RIBA design process Stages 0 and 1 of the Plan of Work. The rationale for such briefing is simple: without it the resultant workplace can fail to meet the expectations and needs of the occupants and occupying organisation and may not be fit-for-purpose. It may also overlook desired aspirations or be unable to provide the flexibility for the future-proofing of the new workplace.
The workplace brief includes components such as the vision of the organisation, cultural analysis, occupancy analysis, workplace strategy, space requirements, cost-benefit analysis (business case), environmental conditions, branding, zoning, required work-settings, indicative space planning etc.
Your assignment is to provide a detailed workplace brief (including elements of the workplace strategy, cost-benefit analysis, interior design guidelines and indicative space planning) for the following theoretical organisation:
The IT support department for a large institution, with a mix of back-office support and client facing teams (referred to as the IT Department of Institution Z).
A current headcount of 120 staff increasing to 170 over the next few years, but beyond that the overall headcount is unclear.
The staff are currently based in several buildings, all of which have lease breaks coming up.
A leased office of approx. 600 m2 has been identified as suitable space (see attached space plan).
One-third of the staff are highly mobile attending meetings and working off-site; another third of office-based but attend meetings (in and outside the office); the remainder are fairly mobile. Twenty staff operate the help desk contact-centre and there are four team managers each with a PA.
There are four main teams within the IT support department. The 20 contact-centre are desk-based, manning the phones, with an overall desk utilisation of 90%; this team is likely to grow by 30%. There are 40 developers are mostly desk based when in the office but occasionally work from home or are in team meetings, with a desk utilisation of 65%; they are likely to grow by 20% over the next five years. The 30 staff in the build team are mostly office-based but spend much of their time in the build room/lab (with 20 seats/benches), with a main office desk utilisation of 50%; they will also grow by 10%. The final team are the 30 project managers who spend most of their time with customers at their sites or in project meetings with colleagues and/or customers, their utilisation is low at 30%; they are projected to grow by up to 70% over five years.
Customers and suppliers regularly visit the office, and the staff are trained on-site.
Staff conduct a mix of collaborative and creative work, along with work requiring focus and concentration.
The department head wants to integrate the staff into a new joined-up culture and improve overall efficiency and effectiveness. They also want to attract fresh graduates with new IT skills.
The institute has a strong sustainability and wellbeing policy.
A limited budget has been set aside for the move, including funds for design, furniture, IT and change management. They will re-use furniture and IT and the new space is in good condition and ready for the CAT B fit-out. The CAT B fit-out is estimated to be 60/sqft.
The current lease, rates and serviced charge totals 80/sqft per annum, the FM and utilities costs are just 5/sqft/annum, but the building requires a new air-conditioning system estimated to cost 0.5M of which the landlord will pay half. The new space is better quality withease, rates and serviced charge totals 85/sqft per annum, the FM and utilities costs at 10/sqft/annum. However, the landlord is offering 1 year rent-free in he new building.

(Make any further assumptions clear in your report – create a separate short section titled “assumptions”.)
