Explain why utilitarianism has difficulty accommodating the concept of justice showing how and why the unjust treatment or scapegoating of some people for the sake of the general happiness is in principle possible with this ethical theory.

Assume the classical conception of justice as meaning giving each individual his or her due. Critically examine the problem of justice in utilitarian approaches to distributive justice, euthanasia, and abortion. In doing so, select at least three readings that are representative of utilitarianism in Social Ethics textbook. (1 from each chapter 1,2, and 8.) consider whether the principle of double effect offers a more satisfactory outcome in each case. Explains and justify your answers. Textbook is Social Ethics Morality and Social Policy by Thomas A Mappes, Jane S. Zembaty, David DeGrazia.

Do you agree with Rousseaus criticism of representative government? Why or why not, and why does it matter?

Respond with reference to both Rousseau and C. L. R. James (see Jamess discussion of Rousseau in Modern Politics).

Discuss the impact that this particular issue has on health care organizations as a whole, including legal costs and other challenges.

Health care issues continue to challenge managers and administrators in the field. Some of these issues create ethical challenges for a health care organization. Often, issues related to the right to die, physician-assisted suicide, and other death and dying situations generate a great divide among health care scholars, policy makers, and leaders. Todays health care managers are challenged with facing these issues in their organizations, and they need to be prepared to see various sides of the debate. For this assignment, choose a current ethical issue related to death and dying that you feel challenges health care managers. Topics need to be current and related to one of the following:Physician-assisted suicideDefine the challenge, and present two sides of the issue. Support each stance with the most recent research on this particular topic.

Write a narrative of 750-1,000 words (not including the title page and references) that presents the research support for the projects problem and proposed solution.

Make sure to do the following:Include a description of the search method (e.g., databases, keywords, criteria for inclusion and exclusion, and number of studies that fit your criteria).
Summarize all of the research studies used as evidence. The essential components of each study need to be described so that readers can evaluate its scientific merit, including study strengths and limitations.
Incorporate a description of the validity of the internal and external research.
It is essential to make sure that the research support for the proposed solution is sufficient, compelling, relevant, and from peer-reviewed professional journal articles.

Discuss and develop an authoritative chain of command for crisis management.

Write a research paper concerning this scenario: You have been charged with the development of a Crisis Management Plan for the real or hypothetical health care organization that you chose earlier in this course. Your research should be based on the following criteria:Select a real or hypothetical crisis such as a natural disaster (hurricane, tornado, flooding, or earthquake), a catastrophic building failure, or an act of terrorism.
Discuss resource management based on ethical approaches used during crisis management.
Consider issues such as patient triage or current as well as incoming patients, supply, and personnel availability.

Include such responsibilities as Incident Commander, Communications Officer, and other members of the chain of command for the incident.
Discuss the importance and implementation of community communication, involvement, and coordination.
Discuss the necessary policies for personnel management and safety.
Include provisions for lock-down status and family communication abilities.
Outline the steps for supply chain management both for personnel and the supplies needed to provide care.

describe the users tasks and goals and analyze the end product (that youve create or found) for concepts relevant to class.

OR
The report consists of a series of class-related topics. You will pick a topic and write an
analysis using your own insights, class insights and cited references. Structure
You will turn in one document of roughly 5-10 pages (this is a guideline, not a
requirement). The page length is largely dependent on the number of screenshots and
images you decide to use. I will focus primarily on content but your ability to follow
these instructions will account for a small part of your grade.
Add a page number to your bottom right corner
Put your name on the first page, in the header or in the footer
Single, 1.15 or 1.5 space your paper do not double space
Do not use tabs, instead leave one empty line between paragraphs and leave your
paragraphs left aligned
Any readable font and font size is fine
Example for paragraph spacing
Heres an example paragraph that Im providing. This is just my laptops default font.
As long as I can read it, you may use any font and font size. I do not have a page
requirement; the 5-10 pages is a guideline. Larger font sizes wont make you look more
or less accomplished. I want to read the content and grade that.
Paragraph two begins after an empty line following the above.
Grading Breakdown
Instructions: read this document and do what it says. Youll automatically get 10%.
Hooray! There are 5 bullets above. You will lose 2% per each bullet you do not follow.
Final Project and Report: See rubric for each (below). This will be 90% of your grade.
Final Report
Choose one of the following. Use the bullet points and topics as a guideline. If you
have a different take on a topic, thats fine. Just make sure you describe the situation
or topic, how it relates to psychology of design and your own personal take on the
issue. Review the rubric for specific guidelines.
Research: You will need to cite a minimum of three sources. Web URLs or other
citations are fine; you do not have to rely on MLA, APA or other citation formats. When
citing, include a footnote and use a numerical superscript to indicate where in your
report the information came from. Use research from a variety of sources and ensure
that its decent information.
Personal Analysis: Take the idea below and make it your own. Include personal
insights, analysis or anecdotes. Why did you care about this topic?
Class Concepts: The ideas listed below all have an obvious tie-in to the class. Make
sure you explore that topic in depth. Consider other class concepts and how they
relate to your topic. (For example, in 3D movies you could talk about attention or tie
personality in with gamification).
Ideas
The use of perception (including depth perception) in 3D movies
Choose an impairment in perception, cognition or learning disability that weve
covered in class. Describe its impact and how modern solutions help to negate the
impairment. (You can also focus on a specific technology, like a screen reader or
color blindness goggles and work backwards to describe all of the impairments it
aims to help)
The use of gestalts and other class concepts in physical product design
How our vision and eye have evolved and its impact on modern vision
How marketers and designers use fear to motivate users to perform an action
Influence of peers, relatives and/or others on how we act or what we choose to
purchase (relate to digital)
Rise of gamification and its successful (or unsuccessful) attempt to persuade user
actions
Hierarchy of needs and how they relate to website (or software) design
Design of websites or learning systems to help users remember something (what do
you use to commit something to your long term memory?)
You may also choose a topic of interest that relates to class. If you decide to not use
one of the above, email me your topic idea. I need to approve it before you decide to
use it. If you have a particular topic of interest and are unsure how to relate it to
class, let me know. I can help.
Final Report Rubric
For each of the following sections, you will be rated on a scale from 0 to 4. Each
section is worth different percentages of your grade, listed below.
Research – 30%
0: Did not do any research.
1: Research was included but not cited in the report, or you did not find enough
sources.
2: Research is complete but not always properly cited. There are facts and information
that need reference.
3: Paper is overall well researched and cited, but one or more of your sources are weak
and dont explore the topic in depth.
4: Paper is well researched. The research sources youve chosen have a wealth of
information or youve found multiple sources to adequately cover your topic. Research
is cited within the paper.
Personal Analysis – 30%
0: No personal analysis included.
1: Youve included a small amount of personal analysis, but I had to struggle to find it
or it is incomplete.
2: Included some personal analysis, but did not tailor it to your report very well.
3: Overall detailed personal analysis. You made some assumption or glossed over in
some areas.
4: Went into detail on concepts you chose, offering a great explanation through
personal insight.
Class Concepts – 40%
0: Did not incorporate class concepts into project.
1: Included one class concept but did not go into enough detail. Missed obvious
examples of concepts from class.
2: Used a few concepts from class but did not go into detail, may not have used
annotations. Missed some obvious examples of concepts you could have leveraged.
3: Explained multiple concepts from class in detail, but missed a few uses of your
chosen concepts.
4: Explained multiple concepts from class in detail and related them to your research.

The importance of social support for UOW students

Needs assessment Develop a community profile of your appointed LGA that includes: i) Basic demographics and information on the following social determinants of health (Early life, Education, Housing, Social gradient, Income, Transport, Unemployment, Work). ii) A summary of your findings from your formative analysis From your group analysis of the profile, identify ONE priority issue that your group plan will address to promote community health and wellbeing. Your needs assessment should also identify any additional information that may be required to complete the profile and sources from which such information could be collected. The plan: The plan to address your priority issue should include: Aim and objectives of the plan Strategies to achieve the plan Resources required including personnel (A realistic budget) A risk assessment of the plan How you will evaluate the intervention A timeline for implementation and evaluation A copy of Criteria for Reports can be found on the Moodle site to assist in the completion of the report. It is also on the eLearning space in the Resources Folder. Individual Component For this component, each student will conduct a health impact appraisal and write a statement outlining the potential impacts of the proposed plan on the health of the LGA population. The appraisal should include both positive and negative impacts and intended and possible unintended consequences. Include an advocacy strategy to promote your plan based on one or more of the components of the PHAIWA Advocacy in Action Toolkit, see link: https://www.phaiwa.org.au/the-advocacy-toolkit/

What other areas of the brain do you think are important in relating information to the prefrontal cortex?

It is really interesting when you look at the anatomy of the brain to find that many of the other structures that feed into this area are actually areas of the brain that are rather primitive. For example, the limbic system has many roles, but one of them it to process our motivations to engage in life-sustaining behaviors (such as eating, or mating). This area of the brain has strong projections to the prefrontal cortex (Reeve, 2008).
