Analyse these issues, making reference to findings and theories presented in the seminars and readings where relevant

The critical case study of 1500 words (40%) is due on Monday October 22, 2018. The
aim of this assessment task is to bring to bear on a practice scenario your reflective
learning from journal writing and the knowledge you have acquired through writing a
critical essay. Further, this task asks you to adopt a specific professional stance. You can
select a profession which you are about to enter (rehabilitation case manager, for
example), one for which you intend to train (counsellor), or a professional role within
public health (health educator, health promoter, community development worker) that
you may wish to explore. A range of case studies will be provided.
In your case study analysis, you are asked to complete the following major tasks:
Identify the professional stance from which you are approaching this case study
Observe the case and identify key issues that require your attention in the
professional role you have chosen

In the light of your analysis, identify relevant strategies, including interventions,
partnerships and referrals, that you would wish to put in place
Remember, in writing your case study, you should consult the seminar notes and
discussions, readings and your weekly journal entries. That is, the primary focus of your
case study should be upon the psychosocial aspects of rehabilitation and/or public
health practice.

Your understanding of the possible dynamics of the case: not only what is going
on but why, how, when, and who is affected?
o What do you expect your clients psychosocial needs to be, and how will you go
about identifying them? (Remember that your client may be an extended family
member, a social network, or a local community in some of these cases).
What the experts have to say about the various issues you identify.
o What policy or program provision did you find? Do your observations and
interpretations align with theories on this topic or not? Explore the similarities
and differences. Your discussion of the specific issues of each case should be
supported with reference to relevant research literature, public health and
rehabilitation policy, and program information. Make sure you also note any
gaps in evidence and address these in your recommendations.
What do you conclude about appropriate understanding and best practice?
What are your recommendations? And what are the reasons for your
recommendations?
o What referrals do you expect to make, and how will you negotiate these? What
programs are available to support your client through the period of
rehabilitation or adjustment? If your case involves an individual rehabilitation
client, are there ways in which the local community might also be involved in
your clients rehabilitation?
You should choose ONE of the following case studies
Awaale
Awaale is a 36-year-old man who arrived in Australia from Somalia as a refugee in 1998.
Hed had little schooling in Somalia and the refugee camp, and he went straight into
unskilled employment once hed cleared the migrant hostel in order to support two
younger siblings. Hes now married and has three children of his own. Hes worked in
labouring jobs for the past fifteen years, has had some back problems from time to time,
but six weeks ago he was moving some large drums of solvent at the factory where he
works, and sustained an injury serious enough to land him in hospital. The ruptured
disk in his back is responding to treatment, but hell need rehabilitation, and there are
strict limitations on the work activities he can undertake: no lifting weights more than 5
kg, no repetitive bending or twisting, for at least another month.
Youve been assigned as Awaales case manager. How will you plan his rehabilitation,
what services will you involve, and on what evidence and conceptual frameworks will
your recommendations be based?
Ellen
Ellen is a 40-year-old married woman who sustained severe whiplash in a motor vehicle
accident. She is a qualified architect, has been married for nine years, and has an eight
year-old daughter. Its now a year since the accident, but Ellen remains very dependent
on the people around her for assistance with everyday activities. Her neuropathic pain is
difficult to treat, and shes tried a variety of medications without finding adequate relief.
Ellen hasnt been able to return to her work as a partner in an architectural practice, and
she and her husband are struggling financially due to the reduced income to the
household. Ellens mood is very low, she has trouble sleeping, and she worries about the
extra household duties that fall to her husband and daughter. Shes finding it
increasingly difficult to relate to them both she can no longer take her daughter to the
various school and social activities that formerly made up the bulk of their shared time,
and they now spend little time together. Her husband seems distant and distracted, and
theres little affection between them.
Youve been assigned as Ellens case manager. How will you plan her rehabilitation,
what services will you involve, and on what evidence and conceptual frameworks will
your recommendations be based?
Michael
Michael is a 20-year-old physical education student. Hes an experienced snowboarder,
but in July 2013 he had a major fall that saw him airlifted off Mt Hotham with compound
fractures to both legs, a broken arm, and several cracked ribs. Hes made a good
recovery from the upper body injuries, but the damage to his legs was severe. He
continues to be restricted in his movements, and hes in almost constant pain. Hes been
able to resume his studies part-time, but he feels acutely the difference between his
injured self and his able-bodied colleagues. His parents live in rural Victoria, and he
cant get home to see them very often. Most of his friendships in the city were based on
shared sporting activities, and hes spending increasing amounts of time alone. In the
past few months hes started to self-medicate with alcohol and marijuana, and hes
experimented a few times with methamphetamines.
Youve been assigned as Michaels case manager. How will you plan his rehabilitation,
what services will you involve, and on what evidence and conceptual frameworks will
your recommendations be based?
Ben
Ben Jones is 36-year-old, a motorcycle courier and qualified motorcycle mechanic. Last
week he was admitted to hospital following an accident that left him with several open
transverse and crush fractures of his right tibia and fibula. He had suffered major blood
loss due to the open fractures, and sustained deep friction burns on his left side from
sliding on the road surface. His leg has been pinned, which means it will be weeks before
he can even bear weight on that limb, significantly longer before the fractures heal and
rehabilitation is complete.
Ben is self-employed. He lives with his partner May and two young children in a rented
apartment in Kensington. May works shifts in the local supermarket. Ben and May juggle
their work schedules in order to look after their children without outside help. They
have no immediate family in Melbourne, having moved here from interstate eighteen
months previously. Their primary motive for the move was to sever links with some of
Bens previous associates and support his rehabilitation from an alcohol problem.
Youve been assigned as Bens case manager. How will you plan his rehabilitation, what
services will you involve, and on what evidence and conceptual frameworks will your
recommendations be based?

What are some established factors or variables that should be considered in the single blind randomized controlled trial of the effect of acupuncture as adjunctive therapy on homeostasis model assessment- insulin resistance and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with type 2 diabetes?

2. Discuss how HRQoL as secondary outcome of this trial could be happened? Discuss the possibilities of any potential relationship between the primary (HOMA-IR) and secondary (HRQoL) outcomes. Thank you

Explain G cells, E cell in terms of mass and their redox chem Apply this redox chemistry to explain the main chemical equations involved in the rusting of iron.

Background: Shipwrecks and artefacts that are submerged in waters of differing abiotic and biotic conditions will corrode and deteriorate at different rates. If salvaged these artefacts and need to be restored and cared for. Once brought to the surface, there are various chemical treatments which can be applied to help restore and or slow the rate of further decay. Understanding the chemistry of redox reactions is imperative to the conservation of marine archaeological objects that have corroded and now ready to restore. Redox reaction include formulae that are explaining these, galvanic cells, electrolytic cells Task: You are to research and present your information in the form of a Science Magazine Article. The font used must be no smaller than 11pt Arial font) and presented on no more than 3 single sided A4 paper sheets. The article has to be enhanced by graphs, tables and diagrams where appropriate. These diagrams and graphs must be identified, labelled and mentioned in the text. Your article will need to include the following: Part A – Background Research Rusting – Define terminology of redox chemistry and discuss in general terms of metals being corroding and chemically restored.Include reactions (Half reactions and all that) give an example within the research assignment Use graphical or tabulated data to identify, analyse and evaluate abiotic (temperature, pH, concentration, acidity, dissolved oxygen levels (water waves), pressure, weather conditions and human activities, salinity if it fresh/salt water salt water = theres ions in the electrolyte-water) factors which would impact on the rate at which the rust is formed. Salvaging – Identify any chemical processes that can minimise degradation of the wreck during the salvage process. What would o do to restore the wreck in those particular conditions or what would you do to avoid the corrosion. Restoration – Discuss the various chemical processes (include chemical equations) of how the corroded metals can be returned to their original states. Electrochemical cells Part B- Comparison of Shipwrecks The Yongala and the Titanic are two well-known shipwrecks of similar age, situated in areas that have very different water conditions (links with the abiotic factors). Compare and contrast the abiotic conditions surrounding these two shipwrecks and relate this to the corroded conditions that the wrecks are found in today. Conclude and justify based on your exploration of the two sites, which shipwreck would be the least corroded and best for salvaging either artifacts or sections of the wreck.

Explain how exactly you would proceed in order to find two countries that would fit your research design.

Please answer this 15 short questions in 2 pages. 1. Please indicate the requested variables based on the following paragraph (there can be more than one dependent or independent variables): Previous research demonstrates that refugee populations can threaten the security of receiving countries. This study, in contrast, seeks to examine the physical security challenges refugees face in host states. It utilizes a new, geographically referenced data set on subcountry refugee demographics to test the hypothesis that locations home to larger refugee populations are more likely to experience one-sided attacks by conflict actors. Results demonstrate that refugee accommodation is a significant predictor of one-sided violence in Africa. In particular, combatants commit significantly more acts of violence against civilians in locations home to larger numbers of self-settled refugees compared to other locations. These findings suggest that scholars and practitioners account for possible dangers presented by refugee flows and threats to refugees simultaneously. Dependent variable(s): ________________________________________________________ Independent variable(s): ______________________________________________________ 2. Please indicate the requested variables based on the following abstract (there can be more than one dependent or independent variables): Despite the frequent participation of women in armed groups, few studies have sought to explain the variation in their roles across different rebellions. Herein, we investigate this variation. We argue that the political ideology a group adopts plays a central role in determining the extent of womens participation, particularly their deployment in combat roles. Specifically, we link variations in womens roles in armed groups to differences in beliefs about gender hierarchies and gender-based divisions of labor inherent in the specific ideologies the groups adopt. We evaluate hypotheses drawn from these arguments using a novel cross-sectional dataset on female combatants in a global sample of rebel organizations active between 1979 and 2009. We find that the presence of a Marxist-oriented leftist ideology increases the prevalence of female fighters while Islamist ideologies exert the opposite effect. However, we find little evidence that nationalism exerts an independent influence on womens combat roles. We also note a general inverse relationship between group religiosity and the prevalence of female fighters. Our analysis demonstrates that political ideology plays a central role in determining whether and to what extent resistance movements incorporate female fighters into their armed wings. (Wood & Thomas, 2017). Dependent variable(s): ________________________________________________________ Independent variable(s): ______________________________________________________ 3. Imagine that you supervise a bachelor thesis. A student proposes the following research question: Are UN peace-keeping operations just?. What is wrong with it and why? (why is such a question not recommended for IR students?) 4. Imagine that you want to test the following hypothesis. Briefly explain how you would operationalize both the dependent and independent variables: Hypothesis: Lower level of democracy leads to the higher probability of civil conflict onset. Operationalization: 5. Your friend from psychology department is collecting data on drug use for her BA thesis. She decided to post her survey on Webster Facebook group. Why is this problematic? State at least two substantive (and substantively different) issues. 6. Explain the difference between closed-ended and open-ended questions. If you are interested in determining/discovering the factors that influence a country to impose economic sanctions on another country which types of questions are you more likely to use and whom would you question? 7. Imagine that you want to find out how president of the United States Donald Trump scores on a liberal /conservative scale. Briefly explain how one could measure it and collect data based on document analysis. 8. What is the difference between correlation and causation? Suppose that you find that there is an empirically observed positive relationship between mountainous terrain and civil conflicts. Is that evidence enough that a countrys mountainous terrain causes country to experience a higher number of civil conflicts? 9. In each case is it feasible for a researcher to perform/design an experiment to test the hypothesis? a. Higher education level leads to a higher voter participation. ? b. The more democratic the country is the higher the income inequality. ? 10. Suppose that one wanted to test the theory that the higher the women participation in the local government the lower the incidence of ethnic cleansing episodes within the locale. How would you design an idealized perfect experiment to collect the necessary data for evaluation of this theory? 11. Please briefly explain the difference between most-likely and least-likely case selection. What is the logic behind both approaches? 12. Imagine that you want to analyze the link between natural resources and civil wars. You want to compare two countries. You decide to select cases by using the most similar case comparison reasoning.13. Suppose you want to test a hypothesis that joining the WTO (World Trade Organization) increases countrys GDP per capita growth rate. How would you use a most-different case selection to find support for a such a hypothesis? Explain. 14. There is a significant debate on the factors that influence a donor country to provide foreign aid for a recipient country. The possible motives for a foreign aid contribution are often considered the security/power concerns, economic interests and/or altruistic motives. Suppose you want to determine whether altruistic motives of a donor country are a significant factor of foreign aid. How would you use a most-similar case selection to examine your hypothesis that presence of altruistic motives increases the level of foreign aid? Explain. 15. Consider the hypothesis that lower ethnolinguistic fractionalization leads to lower probability of civil war onsets in postcolonial states. Which case selection method would you use to falsify such a hypothesis. Explain how you would implement such a case selection. Explain the reasoning behind your chosen method. References:?Wood, R. What are the value of the above strategies as you transition from student to registered nurse?

Before you accept order please note that I’m a bit fussed about the work. I want the paper in accordance with the guidelines. If it’s not up to mark. I’ll send it for revision until I’m satisfied. Following is the little summary of the order. I’ll upload further instructions in files. THANKS This assessment has two parts. In Part A, you will describe ONE leadership approach that Registered Nurses can employ. You will discuss and evaluate how this approach can impact upon: communication and documentation, emerging leadership opportunities, team work, delegation, scope of practice and management of conflict. For example, the opportunity of a new Graduate Nurse to become a leader, the responsibilities a new Graduate Nurse has, according to the practice standards, of delegating care to an Enrolled Nurse and how new graduate nurses may manage challenging situations in practice. This section of the assessment needs to be written in third person. In Part B, you will identify how EITHER; emotional intelligence, resilience or belongingness have influenced your thoughts and actions as you transition to practice and complete your nursing studies.
