Choose the area that you want your poster to be about and collect all of the material, primary references, textbooks and images that you will need to produce it.

Assessment Task: Poster Presentation The maintenance of a constant internal fluid environment is essential for our bodies cells to survive and function properly; however, there exist many physiological stimuli which threaten to disrupt homeostasis. Consequently, this requires compensatory physiological adjustments that minimize changes in the volume, composition, temperature, and pressure of the extracellular fluid compartment surrounding cells. For this assessment, you are required to produce a poster presentation on the mechanisms responsible for homeostatic control within the human body and evaluate how these may be affected by the pathophysiology associated with different disease states. You should use illustrations to highlight key concepts related to physiological theory and include citation of relevant primary literature to support facts/statements. Assessed Learning Outcomes Recognise how the mechanisms of homeostasis relate to human health and illness. Format The poster should be produced in PowerPoint using the template provided. Additional Information Posters provide a fast, clear, and concise means of communicating ideas and data between scientists and are usually needed when there are time and space constraints. The type of poster seen at scientific conferences generally contains more information than an advertising poster. However, if too much information is presented then few people will read it. A compromise must be reached in which the information included is just enough for the poster to be understood. Tips for making a good poster: There is no set of rules you can apply that will automatically produce a good poster. Making a good poster is a creative experience. However if you adhere to these basic principles, you should have little difficulty in producing a poster of professional standard. 4 2. While posters produced by researchers may present their current work your poster will be a summary of a particular specialist area. Therefore, decide on your conclusion/summary and build the poster around that. To aid clarity you should use short, direct sentences to tell your story. Dont make up the text as if you were writing an essay, use bullet points where possible and diagrams instead of text or to accompany text. 3. Remember to take account of the audience, namely people who dont know the special jargon of the subject but can be assumed to have a general scientific education. You are the expert of the moment, not the audience. Most importantly, do tell a story. Writing a poster should be like writing a very short story, with introduction, content and, hopefully, a punchy conclusion. The poster should be self-sufficient. Anyone wanting further information can talk with you at the poster session. 4. Make clarity of message and visual impact top priority. You should leave a positive lasting impression on the reader. Your poster will not be very successful if the sight of the poster next door makes the on-looker completely forget about yours. Maximise the visual impact and keep the word count low. In a conference poster session there may be 200 posters competing for attention. If your display has little visual impact, it is likely that the participants will have forgotten about you and your work by the end of the afternoon, good and painstaking though it was. A scientific poster tries to convey much more than a slogan. Nonetheless, participants at a poster session will be suffering from word overload. Therefore consider these points below when drafting your poster. Remember that the poster should be readable from a distance of at least 1 metre. Dont use type less than 20pt (apart from references) Use a simple font, not some ornate script that is hard to read (people wont bother) Tell a story – a story with scientific content. Keep the word count as small as you can. Use language appropriate to the audience. Keep sentence structure direct and simple, without being repetitive Make the words and the graphics work together. Dont use garish backgrounds or colour schemes that cant be read easily. Make a mock-up of the poster lay the different elements (photos, graphs, blocks of text, tables etc.) on the display area, and then move them around. Choose a composition that looks balanced; this is easy if using PowerPoint to construct your poster. Include a conclusion section which summarizes key points. Make use of the information from reliable/authoritative literature sources this includes peer-reviewed publications such as textbooks and journal articles.

The Reflective Statement is a report and so should state personal elements of evaluating models.

Therefore it is likely that there will be fewer references. Evaluation criteria: the criteria are in the module handbook. The most recent version in on Blackboard. Word count: 1500 words for assignment. Assignment 2 guidance Reflective Statement: as the title suggests, this assignment should be your own thoughts on leadership models in the context of a research environment with which you are familiar, such as investigation of project feasibility. If you use the same environment as you used for the Critical Evaluation, then you can reflect on your own experience of evaluating the models. This could include statements about whether you found the process of identifying relevant models to be straightforward or not. Some models are clearly suitable for evaluation since they include clear components, while some are very general and so evaluation is usually negative since they cannot be applied.

Reference citations tell your reader that you are summarizing or discussing, in your own words, ideas from a work you have read. They do NOT mean that you are copying word-for-word or closely paraphrasing the author’s writing. Citations appear in the body of your paper and include the required information for the documenting system you are using. Include citations as often as necessary to identify the source of the material you are discussing. For example, if you are discussing one work for an entire paragraph, one citation in that paragraph is sufficient, but if you alternate between different sources, you may need to cite the same reference more than once. Place citations into the text when you change sources. Also, when you start a new paragraph, your citations begin anew; in other words, you must repeat any citations used in the paragraph preceding even if the source is the same. Plagiarism: All writers should take all precautions to ensure that no plagiarism, intentional or unintentional, is present in their writing. Please read more details about avoiding plagiarism in your syllabus. Ethical Violation: Dual Relationships/Boundaries

Students will write a five page paper analyzing an ethical issue of boundaries/dual relationships using an ethical dilemma decision-making process. Students will analyze the violation of ethics in the human services profession as reported in a professional journal. Students will demonstrate how using an ethical decision making procedure, the appropriate professional ethics code, and their personal ethics could support a more ethical choice. The paper must contain: 1) a brief description of the ethical violation which includes the context and stakeholders who are involved or have a stake in the outcome; 2) an application of the steps in the ethical decision-making process to the case; 3) an explanation of how their personal ethics provide guidance in this situation; 4) a presentation of three different perspectives on how to address the dilemma with an explanation of why human services professionals might choose each perspective or alternative; the student should link these perspectives with one or more ethical frameworks from the literature; and 5) the student’s recommendation for the resolution of the case and his/her rationale for choosing this outcome. Three references from professional journals must be used in addition to sources for the ethical violation, the professional code and the texts. This essay must meet APA requirements of format and style. Students must cite the sources of all ideas, facts, and information used that are not their own, even if they have put the information into their own words. Failure to do so is plagiarism, even if the oversight is unintentional. **One great reference site that should be used is: https://mswonlineprograms.org/2012/20-best-online-journals-and-forums-for-social-workers/
