Abstract: (summary) At this point I would like to mention the situation in Cyprus due to Turkish invasion in 1974 and how can that create stereotypes among Greek Cypriots. Even today there was no solution among Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. Turkish so far its been taught as a foreign language at the State Institute of Cyprus in afternoon Schools for those who are interested. However not many people tend to choose to learn Turkish as it considered to be the language of the enemy. The goal of this thesis is to examine first if we are talking about stereotypes in this situation or its just early history, and the possibilities of introducing the Turkish language as a secondary language at an early age, for example in primary schools. I want to examine the ideal way to do that in order for the language to be introduced and be accepted by the community. What are the possibilities and the challenges. Literature review: What kind of stereotypes are they? According to references can we Name the non willingness of the Greek Cypriot to learn Turkish, as a stereotype? What is the role of the Education and of language learning in order to fight against stereotypes. I would like to suggest the method/ model of teaching Turkish language as a second language in Greek Cypriot Schools.
