Sympatry between red panda (Ailurus fulgens) and giant pandas ( Ailuropoda melanoleuca) These two species, although they are distantly related, they share te same habitats and bamboo plants. But they do not have much more in common. This caught my attention a lot while I was looking for two species. Each animal is unique, beautiful, and important in nature. I like bears and I wanted to research what species existed in the world. While I was doing this research, I found that some naturalists are still arguing about the possible relationship between giant and red pandas. . For many years, scientists had said that giant pandas were like the red panda, a member of the raccoon family. After all, they are somewhat similar in appearance, both eat bamboo and share the same habitat. It was not until the perfection of the DNA tests had geneticists finally determined that the red panda, while distantly related to the North American raccoon, is a unique specie and that the giant pandas are similar to other species of Bears. Sharing the same habitat and nutritional requirements may have guided evolution towards the creation of their similarities. The word sympatry is used to describe the situation where two species occurs in the same area, and thats what I will be discussing in this literature review. OUTLINES: ?
